With quarantines and social distancing, #COVID19 is not the only #publichealth risk—so is #loneliness. How can we cultivate our social well-being during the outbreak?
In my latest for @sciam, I suggest a few ways to connect without contact: https://t.co/yFFzFzeAma
Not a shocker: people w/ friends at work are happier, leave less frequently, and work harder.

@EvanSandhoefner “The extra data inflow would do little to increase the rate at which we think and learn.” Agreed, and I doubt we’re going to see Matrix-style “Kung-fu packages” anytime soon.
The implementation problems tho are tough (i.e. corrosive salt environment) but not fundamentally HARD.
Do you know a teen with a great idea to fight social isolation? @Hersheys announced today a new project awarding $250 grants to 400 teens with ideas for fighting #loneliness. Submit yours at https://t.co/69fJzTl0k0.

@ErwKuhn Ex. say I’m a developer writing an algorithm for a product and I want to train it on anonymized user data from a marketplace. In exchange for access, I agree to give 50% or whatever of profits from the product I build to the users who provided the data
@ErwKuhn I was thinking more like, if any machine learning algorithm trained on user data results in a product (i.e. google ads), compensate users using a significant percentage of that product’s profits. That way pricing is organic and market-driven
@ErwKuhn Allowing consumers to voluntarily sell anonymized data from our everyday consumptive behavior could actually lead to a kind of “universal basic income,” I argue. Post here: https://t.co/b6sIjpwIY4
