I don’t see him “commanding” here or knocking the door down. As Andy said, the cross is an invitation… to give control of our lives over to Jesus.

@ATLHawks2022 @AndyStanley I’m very grateful for Andy’s post. The parsing of semantics is hard for me. In Rev 3 we see Jesus standing at the door and knocking (more of the invitation v commanding picture of John in that context). In Lk 15 the Father sends out the “invite” to his table.

@rainnwilson I so agree @rainnwilson. I’m a pastor who’s heart sick whenever someone who claims to follow Jesus actually represents something hateful. The opposite of the restorative love of Jesus. And yet that paradigm being described by Hollywood as the norm is so predictable and lazy.
