Good morning.
Last night at 8:51pm Mountain Time, the Valar Atomics Nuclear Operations team brought Ward 250 to 10kW thermal output. We held this power level throughout the night.
This is another historic milestone from the Valar team, marking first nuclear power by a startup.
📢 The 4th Canadian Polar Data Workshop (CPDW-IV) report is now available. The report captures key discussions and recommendations from Canada's polar data community, helping advance observing networks, and Indigenous data sovereignty across the North.

Carney has offered, they have accepted and now our political forces must move to ensure Canada does indeed do this. Ottawa wants this as much as Alberta and industry.
A new Canada-France security agreement could give Canadian companies improved access to French defence programs and collaborative R&D opportunities across key dual-use sectors. #DefenceIndustry#Innovation#Aerospace#Cybersecurity#Canada

Today marks Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee’s transition to Vice Chief of the Defence Staff following four years as Commander of the @RoyalCanNavy. We congratulate him on this appointment. We also congratulate Vice-Admiral Dan Charlebois on assuming command of the RCN. @Comd_RCN
Welcome to Rocket Factory 1 (RF-1), our new 60,000 sqft advanced manufacturing campus at 75 Clegg Road in Markham, Ontario, dedicated to the production of our light and medium-lift orbital launch vehicles. RF-1 is a 10x expansion over our previous headquarters and marks our transition from several years of research and development to a production-focused industrial company.
RF-1 is a Controlled Goods Program (CGP) facility designed to host up to 255 employees. The campus consolidates the full breadth of our in-house capabilities under one roof:
✅ Advanced Manufacturing for Aerospace Lab (AMA Lab) and Space Systems Lab (SSL)
✅ Subtractive, additive, and composite manufacturing capabilities
✅ Multiple ISO-class clean rooms
✅ In-house test facilities for propulsion, structures, avionics, robotics and satellites
✅ Dedicated mission control centre for end-to-end management of all our space missions
RF-1 has been designed to produce two of our light-lift Tundra rockets (1,100 kg to LEO each) or medium-lift Tundra+ rockets (2,000+ kg to LEO) concurrently. Both share the same Hadfield-150 engine architecture and core tooling. The Hadfield-150 is our patent-pending orbital-class liquid rocket engine line, and components for the first test units are already in production, including combustion devices, chambers, and turbopump components. RF-1 is also designed to produce up to 10 small satellites concurrently, building on our Space Systems Lab and the upcoming Terra Nova dual-use demonstration satellite launching on SpaceX’s Transporter mission later this year. Larger satellite platforms are in the design phase.
NordSpace's vertically integrated model is anchored by its launch program and advanced manufacturing focus. This model is being optimized to internalize demand, reduce schedule and cost risk, and ensure that Canadian payloads can be designed, built, launched, and operated entirely within Canadian sovereign control.
Production scaling at RF-1 is anchored by a substantial expansion of our metal additive manufacturing and advanced composites capabilities. We are taking delivery of new large-format metal additive manufacturing systems that will result in the largest known single metal additive manufacturing machine in Canada, alongside new automated fiber placement (AFP) machines arriving this summer, unique in Canada in their combined size and type capable of producing cryogenic-compatible composite structures at the orbital launch vehicle scale.
Looking further ahead, we have acquired land for Rocket Factory 2 (RF-2), a 200,000 sqft facility dedicated to the development and production of Tempest, our reusable medium-lift orbital launch vehicle targeting 5,000+ kg to LEO in the 2030s. Construction begins later this year and facilities will open gradually over the coming years.
RF-1 is one of three sites that make up our national footprint, alongside Area 66, our 50-acre propulsion test range in Eastern Ontario, and the Atlantic Spaceport Complex in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador. At Area 66, our Blackhawk test cell is on track to reach operational readiness later this summer, in preparation for the largest rocket engine test in Canadian history. At ASX, construction across SLC-01 and SLC-02 continues this summer.
Sovereignty is control, and that requires doing the hard parts first. At NordSpace, we are doing the hard parts first. Official news release in the comments below.

Alberta officially welcomed CGC Inc. as it opened its new state-of-the-art wallboard manufacturing plant in Wheatland County. This $210 million investment will create jobs, strengthen Alberta's manufacturing sector, and generate opportunities for decades to come.
Congratulations to CGC Inc. and its parent company, USG on this historic milestone. Thank you for the confidence you've placed in Alberta. We look forward to your continued success in the years ahead.
I had the pleasure of introducing @cenovus CEO Jon McKenzie at the Global Energy Show today, and while the media has focused on his description of Pathways as "unfinanceable", his comments were more nuanced and the whole speech was a banger. My top 🔥 quotes from his speech: /1
The numbers don’t lie.
Alberta continues to be the economic engine of Canada, leading the country in growth, jobs, and wages.
When Alberta succeeds, Canada succeeds.
