@tony_calvin Surely not a coincidence that a couple of months after criticising bookmakers show gets cancelled and Chapman not been near a PP Podcast since. Advertisers keeping show alive suddenly withdraw? 🤔
150. Affordability Checks (2) - Obviously tweets about AC are all the rage atm so lets add another one. Lets jump on the bandwagon that that the Racing Post and other media figures are beginning to roll out. The sheer panic in their eyes as it suddenly dawns on them….
@Golfpunter1 Thanks for reply Luke, can see the BF point of view but hasn’t liquidity/turnover dropped markedly since PC was introduced so there must be an argument for dropping/reducing it to see if the money returns
@MikeThomson73 Told everyone before it’s nothing to do with form study it’s pure mathematics and getting the best price! And no good giving stats without a Profit/loss @tomrolinson winners could all have been odds on. My P/L was absolute shite btw!
@MCYeeehaaa@SBCinfo@AtTheRaces@SkySportsRacing The fact all restrictions are applied at the same time. Most winners wouldn’t complain about losing BOG, 1st past post etc if they could get a reasonable bet on at advertised prices even to win only £200 rather than being effectively shutdown immediately by 50p stake restrictions
Lots of interest about how @10betSports changed the odds on a winning bet from 175/1 to 100/1 48 hours after the event. Not an arb or a palpable error.
One punter has been in touch who tells me he is £11,718.75 down due to this decision

@BarstewardsThe No difference apart from you’re not allowed to win betting on sport. I’ve had no affordability checks or anyone contacting me to see if I’m ok even though my pension fund has lost more this month than I’ve ever been close to losing gambling.
@leemottershead@RobWaterhouse@PeterLawrence18@RacingPost Hi Lee, I’d guess 90% of restricted punters aren’t arbers. All you need to do is consistently take the best price on oddschecker and you’re gone. I’ve subscribed to the RP for a few years but hard to justify when you can’t follow the tipsters and get on with £5 and £10 bets
@RSG_One1@BookieBaz Not quite what I said. Easy to miss if you’re on course, especially at Cartmel, but if you’re in the stewards room with multiple TVs and that’s your job it should have been picked up straight away
@gwhit67@BookieBaz Agree they couldn’t be sure but it was hard to miss a huge weight cloth slipping off the arse of the horse if they’d been watching closely and surely better to call an enquiry and then dismiss 5 mins later if nothing wrong
@SBCinfo Most winning punters can handle losing BOG, free bets etc. The problem is the day you lose them you almost always lose the ability to stake more than £2 on a selection, which makes it impossible to bet.
🗣 "It could be the downfall of British racing."
Steve Mellish & Dave Nevison spoke at length about the problems of affordability checks on the channel this evening - well worth a listen

@brucemillington After subscribing to the RP for years to follow the mostly brilliant tipsters going to cancel this year as impossible to get on. Until the paper takes a stand against and supports a min bet liability for recreational £10 punters the game and the paper will cease to exist.
