Vandy deserved better than a 5-seed. ⚓️
Coach Byington notes that even the analytics suggest @VandyMBB earned a higher seed, though the slight didn't change the team's preparation. However, nothing could prepare them for the atmosphere against Nebraska—it was so intense that Coach Byington kept receiving noise alerts on his phone.
"That was the loudest environment I’ve ever coached in."

I learned about Nebraska's love for its teams a few years ago when they were selling margaritas at 5 a.m. at my hotel in Lincoln eight hours before a football game. They're so serious about their teams. Through the TV, it sounds like there are 120,000 of them in that building.
I thought it was hyperbole when they were saying there might be 15,000+ Nebraska fans in the Paycom Center today…
(Paycom only holds 18,203 and the other 3 teams bring fans too)
Update: It wasn’t hyperbole…
The fact that this Nebraska basketball team is able to take a lap inside the Paycom Center to thank the fans as if it’s PBA on Senior Day….
In an era of college athletics that feels so unknown and different, this is seriously what it’s all about.
I have zero dog in the fight for this Nebraska Vanderbilt game, for god sakes I’m an engineer out of Tacoma Washington but these refs seem to hate the Huskers. Nebraska fans are impressive by the way, travel well.
