Hungary's PM Magyar to Kosovo PM Kurti:
We recognise Kosovo's key role in the stability of the Western Balkans.
A prosperous Western Balkans is of vital importance to Hungary and the entire European continent.
We are committed to supporting your country on its European path.
Three years after the horrific terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, the Republic of Kosova remembers the innocent lives that were taken and all those whose lives were forever changed by that day.
We reaffirm our unequivocal rejection of terrorism and antisemitism in all their forms, and our solidarity with the victims and their families.
On this anniversary, we stand with all those who continue to carry the pain of October 7 and reaffirm the fundamental right of the people of Israel to live in safety and free from terror.

Yes, Albanians protected every Jewish person who arrived in the country seeking refuge from the Nazis. (See Raizel and Daniel Namdar tell the story in the video below; their Instagram account is “That Jewish Family,” and they have great content.)
Many people, including Muslims, opened their doors and welcomed them. The government issued Albanian passports so that, if the Germans came looking for them, they could not tell they were not Albanian. These passports were highly valuable, and they allowed many to leave Europe for America.
Albanians also stood by people across the Balkans who had converted to Islam. Greece expelled much of its Muslim population, while Serbia and Republika Srpska continue to push the narrative that Muslims should be driven out, thus pushing for more conflicts and wars.
We cannot imagine expelling our own people because they converted to Islam, no matter how much we suffered under the Ottoman invasion and its brutal regime.
And seriously, what does it say about you if you cannot protect your own people? You can try to persuade them to return to Christianity, but starting a war against your own people in the name of religion speaks volumes about who you are, and you are no different than the cruel Ottomans.
Many people in the Balkans converted to Islam because they could not afford to leave, as some wealthy Albanian families did, or could not pay the taxes imposed on them. For many, conversion was a means of survival.
Albanians showed that same compassion toward Jewish people during the Holocaust. It was, and still is, unimaginable to us to turn away people seeking refuge at our door, especially if it's a matter of survival.
Loyalty towards others runs deep in our DNA, and we extend that loyalty to the Muslim communities of the Balkans as well.
Fighting the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the evil trying to revive aspects of Ottoman ideology and cruelty, is a very different task from targeting people in the Balkans whose families converted to Islam generations ago. The Muslim Brotherhood is a serious issue, and its influence has grown since Erdoğan came to power.
But please understand that when Serbia and Republika Srpska use religion or the MB to vilify Bosnians or Albanians in Kosova, that is pure propaganda.
I see Serbia and Republika Srpska as a much greater threat to the Balkans than the Muslim Brotherhood, whose influence could be stopped more easily if we did not also have to push back against these proxies of Russia.
Tonight we play a beautiful nation of kind, proud and welcoming people 🇽🇰
Wish both Ireland and Kosovo all the best
May the best team win but of course hope it’s Ireland

We join Kosovo in honoring @Kosovo_Police Officer Afrim Bunjaku, who was killed in the line of duty during the September 2023 Banjska attack. We reiterate our call that the perpetrators be held accountable.
Today in New York, I met with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.
We discussed the third anniversary of Serbia’s aggression and the terrorist attack in Banjska, where Kosova Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed. Milan Radoicic and the other members of the terrorist group must face justice in Kosova.
We also discussed the first-instance judgment of the Kosova Specialist Chambers, and I expressed my deep concern over the mono-ethnic character of the court’s approach, as well as the erroneous verdict and unjust sentences against former KLA leaders. The legal process is not over, and we will remain engaged to seek correction on appeal.
I asked for the EU’s active support in processing Kosova’s EU membership application, submitted on 15 December 2022, and for Kosova to receive candidate status.
Kosova has fulfilled important standards. Our European path must be based on merit, democracy, the rule of law and equal treatment.
It was a pleasure to join Naser Nika and the Albanian American Association of Staten Island in welcoming the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to Staten Island.

Kosovo PM Kurti:
The verdict is an unacceptable injustice, a heavy and harmful punishment.
The empty formula "in the name of the people of Kosovo" must not be confused with the will of the people.
The verdict must be changed at the appeal level as soon as possible.
Albanian oligarch and businessman Gjergj Luca has inaugurated his new Rozafa Apollonia complex near Fier, Albania.
Inside the complex is the “Museum of Faiths,” featuring a unique space dedicated to the three Abrahamic religions: Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
Three faiths, one space a powerful symbol of Albania’s tradition of religious coexistence and tolerance.
Twenty-five years after 9/11, Kosova remembers the 2,977 lives lost and stands with the American people. The attacks were aimed at America and the freedom it represents. That day was felt deeply in Kosova, where our bond with the U.S. is rooted in history and enduring friendship.
