It's not too late to participate in the Gardens of Brampton! 🌸🪻

The submission deadline has been extended until August 16.

Residents are invited to build their gardening skills, learn proper techniques and share photos of their front gardens. Submit a photo of your front garden for a chance to receive a recognition award lawn sign and be honoured through a special collaboration with @BramptonLibrary. 📸

Whether your garden is full of bold blooms, fresh greenery or a few carefully planted favourites, your efforts help make Brampton feel more welcoming, connected and cared for.

Gardens of Brampton is in partnership with the Brampton Horticultural Society and Chinguacousy Garden Club, recognizing residents who care for their gardens and add colour, character and pride to local neighbourhoods.

Civic Holiday is Monday, August 3. Most City of Brampton offices, including City Hall, will be closed for the holiday.

🚒 Essential and critical services will continue as usual.
⚽ Select recreation centres will be open with modified holiday hours. There will be no registered programs on Monday, August 3.
📖 All @BramptonLibrary branches will be closed on Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3.
🐾 The Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on Monday, August 3. Animal Services officers will continue patrol and emergency response.
🚍 @BramptonTransit will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday, August 3.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued an orange-level air quality and yellow-level heat alert in #Brampton due to wildfire smoke from active fires in northwestern Ontario. ℹ️

The City of Brampton has adjusted programs and services to keep residents safe:

☀️ Summer camps and programs are modified to keep participants indoors. Where indoor alternatives are unavailable, registered outdoor programs will be cancelled on July 15 and participants will be notified.
🥅 Sports fields and outdoor facility rentals can be cancelled without penalty and associated rental fees for the spaces will be waived.
🏢 The City’s publicly accessible buildings, including City Hall, recreation centres and @BramptonLibrary, are available as heat relief locations during regular business hours.
🔷 City-led events, including the Garden Square live screening, are proceeding as scheduled. The Rose’s 24-hour lobby is available as an indoor space and water refill stations can be found throughout the area. The City will continue to monitor conditions and share updates on social media.

Residents are reminded to protect themselves by:

➡️ Limiting time outdoors.
➡️ Monitoring the Air Quality Health Index throughout the day before planning outdoor activities.
➡️ Following guidance from Peel Public Health and ECCC.

Residents can stay safe during extreme heat by:

💧 Staying hydrated throughout the day.
🪭 Cooling off in air-conditioned spaces.
🔵 Limiting outdoor activities and seeking shade when outdoors.
💦 Visiting the City’s splash pads and wading pools, weather permitting.
💙 Checking in on family members, neighbours and vulnerable people.
