@F8Aldzz@lovelylarr@TizzyEnt Love that actor. Did you see that movie he was in? “No Country for Old Men.” At that time he didn’t speak English yet and learned his lines phonetically. So they say. He speaks English now. Always turns in a great performance.
@F8Aldzz@TizzyEnt Honestly, I think we are OK and we will be OK. You care and I care and lots of us care and want to do our best. And wouldn’t you know I have a weak stomach and never get to eat from a food stand. I suspect they have the best tasting food and I don’t get to enjoy it.
@F8Aldzz@TizzyEnt Well, I mean historically, culture is not static. It is always changing. We are all changing. Shifting. Nothing stays the same and we adapt, we find the best of things, collectively we find our way. Permeating everything is impermanence. And the human spirit perseveres.
Any serious discussion about the Jenin assault should NOT be on how #Israel justifies/spins its carnage. It should focus on what exactly does this vast destruction achieve?
It won’t make anyone secure or “calm” the area. Rather the opposite; which is what the Israeli right wants
@cmclymer They feel outrage. And we feel outrage at their outrage. And we tweet our outrage. And loads of us lap up the outrage. And we, on the left, also do it all over again. We are all the same. Sisyphus.
Right now in Jenin: the Israeli army is holding Palestinian families at gunpoint in their own homes, harassing terrified Palestinian children.
This is what $4 billion in US funding pays for: Israel’s brutal oppression of Palestinians.
To some of my fellow Muslims with short memories who have been recently attracted to the GOP or Fox (!) over the issue of Pride marches or gender issues or school opt outs, a reminder of how the core of the modern GOP really thinks of, and talks about, you/us:
A passing storm left a rainbow arching over #WashingtonDC, making the amazing view from the Washington Monument even better.

Joy Reid on fire, talking about her experience of going to Harvard because of affirmative action! Take a moment it’s from the perspective of someone who actually was there.
