I DM’d you about this and replied to your thread with info about it. I’ve spent years thinking about this because I’m also a 5 on the scale and have no visualization capabilities and want you to be able to look up all the things like I did!

It's baffling to me that some of y'all see stuff in your mind. You SEE it? The way your eyes see? I always thought "visualize" meant thinking of the words/ideas/feelings associated with a thing, not actual visuals.
I am such a total 5 on this scale I didn't know 1-4 existed.

@johngreen @nicholeeze1 There’s nothing wrong with you (: science is (severely..) lacking when it comes to Aphantasia, but I have it too. I see nothing in my head 99.9% of the time. I didn’t discover it until I was 24 and saw the exact picture you posted of the apples myself and interrogated my friends!

@johngreen @a_fangirl3 For me (also a five) it’s like without the visual imagery in my head, I just live in the emotions and conversations of my imagination. When people ask how I read and write, I always say I just feel how it would feel. I’m driven by the emotion it invokes, not the image it is

@johngreen It’s Aphantasia (hi again). It’s also sometimes directly tied to something called SDAM (severely deficient autobiographical memory!). I always tell people I don’t have any maps in my head bc all the lights are off (:
