The Aldeburgh Branch Line ran from Saxmundham to Aldeburgh in Suffolk. Partially intact, could the rest of the line be reopened? We are also on Facebook.

2/The loco was designed by M&GNR Locomotive Engineer William Marriott and built by December 1904 at Melton Constable Works, specifically for use on the Midland & Great Northern Railway as Class A 4-4-2T No.41. During 1933/34, sloping fronts were fitted to improve the cab view.

1/Yarmouth Beach Railway Station on the 26th June 1929 as a clean and Norfolk-built M&GNR tank engine No.41 perhaps on local service duties going to and from Lowestoft Central via the Breydon Viaduct or maybe to/from Potter Heigham by means of push & pull. Russell Walker.

Yarmouth Beach Railway Station on the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway in 1958.The station effectively became a terminus in 1953 after the Breydon Railway Viaduct closed, and it was not long after this photo was taken the station closed on 2nd March 1959.(Russell Walker)

An Aldeburgh Branch Line Restoration Group or Charity would need to be founded locally with local people driving it. I would be happy to help and attend meetings but am heavily involved with other railways & frankly don’t have the time to lead on this. Perhaps someone else has?
