there's something just so incredible about the focus on perennial ridiculous trick-or-treat panics (rainbow fentanyl, razor blade apples) over the fact that cars routinely kill more people on halloween than any other day of the year
After going out to dinner (22 nights out of 30, NYT reports), Adams says he rides the subways. "If I hang out with the boys, I’m going to get up with the men."
Like a lot of people I wasn't sure if it was in Griner's best interest to make this a public issue at first, but the US Government's decision to classify her as wrongfully detained seems to have green lit the movement to apply public pressure at home.
So as Dawn says: #FreeBG
This Earth Day 🌎 we'd like to remind you that the technology and infrastructure to move millions of people with low to no emissions already exists. It's literally not rocket science.
Absolutely unnecessary use of force in Bed Stuy.
Why is so much money being spent on police in our stations, and not on working bathrooms, reliable service, and elevators for accessibility?
.@CurtisSliwa says he’ll send some kids to trick or treat at @ericadamsfornyc Brooklyn apartment and see if he opens the door. “You know he doesn’t live in that basement apartment.”
I see a lot of people saying that the story below represents the worst kind of journalism. But remember: If Shams didn’t write stuff like this and get in good with his sources, he couldn’t do the vital work of breaking news 43 seconds before everyone else.
Last week Mike Richards wrote that lawsuits from The Price Is Right didn’t “reflect the reality of who I am.”
I went looking for who he is, talking to current and former colleagues and listening to a podcast he hosted at Price. What I found was troubling. https://t.co/A8AEsPHCMA
NEW: @mayawiley says @KGforNYC and @AndrewYang asked her to campaign with them today, but she turned them down because she thought Yang’s comments about mentally ill New Yorkers in the debate Wednesday night were highly insensitive.
video of Yang shouting about forced hospitalization of “mentally ill homeless people” is shocking/disgusting and should lead every news outlet until 6/22.
For someone who casts himself as a change agent, the way he speaks about those who need help sounds pretty archaic
the wnba is growing fast
im here to help new fans pick a team to root for before the season starts on friday!!

Just a timely reminder that hate-watching that episode tonight will only prove to the people who made the decision you don’t like that it was worthwhile and they should keep making more like them
was recently notified that I was a close contact of someone w/ covid, and when I mentioned to the contact tracer that I was fully vaccinated, the canned response was "ok, you should have no issue returning to work then". there must be more than this.
In the pandemic, most people stopped:
—Seeing their friends
—Gathering with family
—Going to restaurants
—Watching movies in theaters
—Attending weddings
—Traveling
Most people didn't have the luxury of stopping work, even at great cost to their health.
