A Mao meme just cost Mbappé several Chinese endorsement deals. Eastroc Beverage, Mengniu Dairy and Milkground cut ties with the football star after he said his favorite meme showed his face superimposed on a “Chinese dictator,” apparently referring to Mao Zedong. The brands accused him of “hurting the feelings of the Chinese people.”

Mbappé later apologized. But what exactly required an apology? By standard political science criteria, Mao was a dictator. Brands can decide whom they sponsor. They cannot change historical facts.

Is Germany’s car industry done? Mercedes joins BMW and VW in cutting its outlook amid the China shock, targeting a car margin of just 2–3%, down from up to 5%. Shares plunged 5.4%, bringing this year’s loss to over a third. Germany’s Big Three are worth just €106bn combined; Tesla alone is worth €1.4tn, over 13 times more.

China, once their profit engine, has become a liability. September vehicle exports hit 1.05m, up 61% year-on-year, while total sales fell 8.4%. Weakening domestic demand is pushing more Chinese cars into markets German brands depend on.

What is a CEO’s reputation worth if it collapses under political pressure? At Davos, The Economist’s editor-in-chief Zanny Minton Beddoes pressed JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon on whether business leaders operate in a “climate of fear.” Their exchange raised a sharp question: when does strategic silence become a failure of leadership?

The stakes extend beyond politics. CEOs who avoid confronting political overreach risk damaging their personal brands, professional reputations, and credibility on corporate responsibility.

An executive’s personal brand rests on authentic leadership. Dimon’s combative responses illustrated the reputational danger: when leaders appear more concerned about political retaliation than defending their principles, they project vulnerability and opportunism. The image of an independent, principled leader becomes difficult to sustain when those principles disappear under pressure.

Professional reputation also depends on institutional trust. Investors, employees, and customers expect corporate leaders to defend the rule of law, democratic stability, and open markets, the foundations that allow businesses to prosper. When executives sacrifice those commitments for short-term protection, they weaken confidence in their judgment and independence. Temporary political convenience can carry a lasting reputational cost.

Corporate responsibility demands more than carefully worded statements. CEOs wield enormous economic power, giving their choices consequences far beyond shareholders. Silence in the face of political threats can help normalize intimidation and weaken the institutions their companies depend on.

Leaders need not comment on every controversy. But when foundational principles are threatened, choosing self-preservation over conviction undermines their legacy. A reputation built on leadership cannot survive indefinitely on silence.

Has Kushner’s elite brand been ruined? Did Jared Kushner send money to a hitman? These allegations come from Vanity Fair’s excerpt of investigative journalist Matthew Cole’s book, Princes and Thieves: Jared Kushner and Mohamed bin Zayed’s Secret Plot to Remake the Middle East.

The excerpt alleges that Dutch intelligence compromised Kushner’s iPhone and observed him accessing foreign-backed accounts holding over $2 billion. It further claims that funds moved through international accounts to controversial figures, including a warlord, mercenaries, and a former hitman or contract operative.

Three Russian soldiers barely survived a drone strike. Just as they were hugging and celebrating their near-miss, a second drone plunged right into the middle of them! There is a high chance they were forcibly drafted, pulled from their universities, and shipped off to the front. Every loss, no matter which side, is tragic and ought never to be mocked. If Putin and the Russia that started this war are left unpunished, justice and peace will cease to exist in this world.

In the AI era, five key trends reshaping brand marketing are undergoing a fundamental transformation. Five years ago, the marketing industry identified five major trends driving brand strategies: brand safety and misinformation governance, values-based marketing, hyper-personalized content, metaverse marketing, and immersive experiences. The core underlying shift was clear: consumers moved from passively receiving ads to actively choosing brands they trust.

As we enter 2026, generative AI is accelerating this shift. AI not only dramatically reduces content production costs, but also changes how consumers search, compare, and buy products. AI assistants like ChatGPT are becoming the new gateway between brands and consumers, pushing traditional SEO to expand into GEO (Generative Engine Optimization).

BrandAI’s Viewpoint: The metaverse hype was overestimated, while AI-driven brand trust, intelligent recommendations, and personalized services were underestimated. The core of future brand competition is no longer just winning consumer attention, but capturing AI recommendation priority and consumer trust. Brand equity will evolve from traditional awareness to credibility, visibility, and recommendation probability in the AI era.

Kimi’s Marketing Fiasco: A Masterclass in How Not to Do Global PR. Moonshot AI’s recent overseas marketing campaign for Kimi K3.1 Pro has completely backfired, turning what could have been a routine product update into a public relations disaster.

The trouble began when influencer Elshayib leaked internal outreach guidelines provided by Kimi. The instructions explicitly asked creators to omit "Paid Partnership" labels and avoid linking to Kimi's official site or tagging their X account, a blatant attempt to simulate authentic, organic endorsement while evading disclosure rules.

To make matters worse, the campaign relied on aggressive talking points, hyping the model as a "5x cheaper open-source version of Opus 5.5" and leaning heavily into geopolitical rivalry tropes. Combined with allegations of API rerouting (e.g., using Claude APIs for complex tasks and Tripo for 3D generation), the campaign has severely damaged user trust.

The Takeaway: Tactics like stealth sponsorships and hyperbole might fly in some domestic markets, but attempting them on global platforms, where creators value transparency and quickly call out unethical practices, is a massive miscalculation. For a company preparing for an IPO, relying on deceptive hype rather than letting technical merit speak for itself is a self-inflicted wound.

Footage inside their processing factory reveals the operations of JBS, the world's largest meat producer backed by a $334M stake from BlackRock. Far from a foreign exporter, JBS dominates U.S. production, generating $28.1B in North American beef and $8.4B in U.S. pork in 2025, while controlling 82% of chicken giant Pilgrim's Pride.

Yet behind these household food brands lies a deeper crisis of trust driven by financial cartels like BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street. As institutional capital tightens its grip on the global food supply, consumers are left doubting whether anything on the shelf or restaurant menu is truly safe, clean, or untainted.

Charles Kushner, Jared’s father, pleaded guilty to 18 counts, including tax evasion and witness tampering. He hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, filmed it, and sent the tape to his sister. The scandal tarnished the Kushner real estate brand. Trump later pardoned him and made him ambassador to France and Monaco.

Watching your dad commit tax fraud and intimidate witnesses must be quite a masterclass in business ethics. No wonder Jared Kushner went from the White House to securing $2 billion in Saudi backing for his investment firm. When corruption is the family business, the apple doesn’t just fall close to the tree; it buys the whole orchard.

Hermès bags available in China without mandatory add-on purchases? Once-aloof sales associates now actively courting customers? Has luxury royalty finally bowed? On October 22, Hermès reported its slowest quarterly sales growth since early 2020. Its CFO described China, its largest single market, as “very difficult,” while reaffirming plans to invest there.

Meanwhile, BrandAI finds that secondhand prices for the Birkin and Kelly have plummeted, with premium markups shrinking sharply. The entire luxury industry is facing massive headwinds, and its previous logic has broken down: the belief that you could raise prices indefinitely and customers would always eagerly fawn over you, even if you catered to a top-tier client base, no longer holds true.

All You Need To Know About Brand Image. At BrandAI, we view brand image not merely as a passive static perception, but as dynamic cognitive data structured across neural, human, and artificial decision networks. In World Brand Lab's foundational guide, brand image is defined through classic academic frameworks, notably Aaker and Keller, as the sum of consumer associations, perceptions, and cognitive inferences formed over time through both direct touchpoints and indirect signals.

Key Takeaways for Modern Brand Strategy:

Brand Image vs. Brand Identity vs. Awareness: While Brand Identity represents an internal, forward-looking intent controlled by the firm, Brand Image is the external, backward-looking reality existing in the consumer’s mind. Distinct from mere Brand Awareness (salience and recall), image defines the qualitative depth of mental associations.

Strategic & Equity Value: A positive brand image directly drives competitive advantage and brand equity, enabling premium pricing, customer trust, higher market share, and friction-free product extensions.

Building & Improving Image: Organizations cannot directly program brand image; they must indirectly shape it by refining brand identity, executing seamless customer experiences, positioning unique value, and maintaining consistent multi-channel communication.

Measurement Methods: Measuring qualitative perceptions requires multi-dimensional approaches, including perception surveys, focus groups, social listening, Brand Concept Maps, and Semantic Differential Scaling.

In today’s evolving media ecosystem, brand image is no longer evaluated solely in human minds, it is continuously indexed, synthesized, and presented by GenAI systems and LLM answer engines. Maintaining alignment between internal identity and external brand image requires continuous real-time monitoring of both human sentiment and algorithmic SOM metrics to ensure your core values remain accurately represented across all digital and AI touchpoints.

An extraordinary allegation: Dutch Military intelligence MIVD gained access to Jared Kushner’s Russian-hacked iPhone through a GRU source in 2017, uncovering an alleged covert operations slush fund involving accounts in Azerbaijan and Israel, funded by Saudi and Emirati leaders. This scandal deals a devastating blow to Trump’s political brand.

Alongside the pitch by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner for luxury waterfront developments in Gaza, these allegations raise serious questions about whose interests Trump’s diplomacy actually serves. If substantiated, they would shatter his “America First” brand: foreign policy entangled with family interests and foreign money.

In an era where AI is deeply integrating into business, marketing, and product development, the rules and ecosystem surrounding trademark protection and brand infringement are undergoing profound shifts. Frequent trademark disputes involving high-profile celebrity brands, such as Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Skin, highlight that when names are virtually identical, infringement can occur even if product categories are merely "related" rather than identical. Research by World Brand Lab reveals several key takeaways for brand protection in the AI era:

1. More Covert Forms of Infringement: From Visual/Textual Similarity to Data and Model Infringement
In the past, infringement primarily involved copied brand names (e.g., Rhode vs. Rhode Skin), logos, or packaging. In the AI era, however, infringement has expanded into the data layer:

Model Training and Intellectual Property Boundary Violations: During training, large language models (LLMs) or generative image AI may incorporate a brand’s unique visual elements, proprietary fonts, or branded assets without authorization.

Homogenization and Confusion in Generative Content: AI dramatically lowers the barrier to quickly generating brand names and visual designs. This can trigger a surge of lookalike, borderline-infringing products over short periods, heightening the risk of consumer confusion.

2. Upgraded Monitoring and Enforcement: Fighting AI with AI (AEO and Automated Surveillance)
Traditional trademark searches and manual monitoring (such as auditing the USPTO database) are labor-intensive and slow. In the AI era:

Real-Time Global Surveillance: Brands can deploy AI-powered image recognition and text-mining tools to monitor e-commerce platforms, social media, and generative AI outputs 24/7 for unauthorized brand logos or imitative behavior.

Brand Protection in the Age of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): As consumers increasingly rely on AI search engines and recommendations, brands must proactively correct AI-generated answers that confuse genuine brands with infringing or knockoff entities, preserving exclusivity and accuracy across AI outputs.

3. The Surge in Importance of "Intent to Use" and Early Defensive Layouts
AI drastically condenses the timeline from product concept to market launch, reducing development cycles to a matter of weeks:

Speed as Defense: When launching new products or vertical AI tools (such as generative brand applications), brands must file "Intent to Use" applications early to secure priority rights.

Expanding the Scope of Defensive Registrations: As AI merges with digital assets (such as digital twins and virtual services), trademark class boundaries are blurring. Brands need proactive cross-category protection spanning related technology and digital service classifications.

4. Brand Equity Recenters on "Trust" and "Authentic Experience"
When AI can mass-produce highly persuasive brand visuals and copy, a trademark’s role as a "source identifier" becomes more critical than ever:

Trademarks as Anchors of Trust: In a marketplace flooded with AI-generated content, registered trademarks serve not only as a legal defense, but also as the primary benchmark for consumers to verify authenticity and quality.

New Frontiers in Coexistence and Compliance: Given increasingly complex cross-category overlaps, establishing clear Coexistence Agreements and licensing frameworks will be paramount when AI-driven technology platforms collaborate with traditional physical brands.

While the AI era lowers the barriers to infringement and imitation, it also equips brand owners with far more robust real-time monitoring and global enforcement capabilities. According to BrandAI, future brand protection will no longer be limited to post-facto litigation; it will evolve into a systemic framework uniting early strategic pre-positioning, AI monitoring tools, and AEO-driven trust architecture.

JD Vance: “Ukraine’s attacks on Russian energy facilities could drive up fuel prices in the United States, so we want them to stop.”So, in Vance’s view, bombing Ukrainian cities is forgivable, but damaging Russian oil refineries crosses an intolerable red line. How can anyone say something so heartless? Is killing babies and children acceptable, then? And this comes from a man with four young children of his own!

Resurfaced video: Vivek Ramaswamy dismisses Amy Acton’s accounts of childhood abuse, saying she “complains about what someone else did to her.”Weaponizing someone’s childhood suffering raises serious questions about his judgment and character. Acton has described sexual abuse by her stepfather and abuse and neglect by her biological mother. What exactly does Vivek hope to accomplish by dragging that trauma into a political campaign? Humiliate her? Provoke an emotional reaction?

[BrandAI @Brand]

This one-minute political ad has ignited outrage across America, exposing how low Vivek Ramaswamy is willing to go to win. By using Amy Acton’s estranged mother to attack a daughter who survived childhood abuse, he has turned personal trauma into campaign ammunition and made his own judgment and decency the issue.

Acton has described abuse by her stepfather between ages nine and twelve, along with childhood homelessness that included living in a tent during winter. Her brother corroborated their removal from their mother’s custody. Her stepfather faced criminal charges, and, according to her brother, their mother remained married to him until his death. These facts make the advertisement’s premise especially cruel.

An estranged parent’s accusations do not erase that history. Giving those accusations a campaign platform invites voters to judge the survivor while obscuring why the relationship broke down.

This looks like a desperate gamble by someone whose wealth cushions the consequences of political failure. Ramaswamy can damage his personal brand, lose the election, and still retreat into extraordinary financial security. The people whose suffering he exploits have no comparable escape from their past.

Money can purchase airtime and amplify an accusation. It cannot purchase decency. Ohio voters should ask whether someone willing to run this advertisement deserves their trust.

Kara Swisher suggested Elon Musk might be in jail had Kamala Harris won. Musk replied: “Message received.”Sixteen House and Senate Democrats, led by Elizabeth Warren, Jamie Raskin, and Ron Wyden, are calling for investigations into Musk's alleged actions:

Abuse of Power & Overreach: Using DOGE to drive federal job cuts, spending freezes (e.g., USAID), and allegedly gaining unauthorized access to sensitive Treasury and Social Security systems.

Entanglement & Conflicts of Interest: Holding a government role while maintaining billions in federal contracts and subsidies, and allegedly leveraging massive political donations for personal or corporate gain.

Defense & Geopolitical Interference: Directly influencing Ukraine's operational and battlefield access to Starlink and Starshield through his corporate control.

Democrats are preparing investigations if they regain congressional control, with Musk’s DOGE activities among the potential targets. Questions concern federal cuts, sensitive data access, spending freezes and conflicts involving government contracts. These are allegations and oversight issues, not established crimes.

Musk’s political battles risk turning his personal brand from a symbol of innovation into a source of polarization and distrust. For Tesla ($TSLA) and SpaceX ($SPCX), that reputational spillover could weaken customer loyalty and confidence in their corporate independence.

Buy a Huawei car, and you might just get a free cremation included.Huawei again. In Yulin, Shaanxi Province, a Huawei-backed AITO M9 reportedly lost control and crashed into a lamppost, allegedly killing all five occupants. According to circulating footage, the collision occurred at the 16-second mark, the vehicle caught fire at 17 seconds, and by 20 seconds, its entire front section was engulfed in flames.

The fire reportedly spread so rapidly that the occupants had virtually no time to escape. China’s updated EV battery safety standards require batteries to withstand thermal runaway without catching fire or exploding for at least two hours under specified test conditions. But apparently, Huawei operates under its own laws of physics.

Madrid: First, they ransacked luxury stores in Paris, Milan, and Madrid, now they are reselling the loot right on the streets. Is Europe totally doomed? The irony of these guys stringing up stolen designer bags and luxury watches just to flip them on the pavement is so fucking hilarious I am literally wheezing. Zero respect for anyone else's property.

Want a wonderful weekend in France? Great news: Paris city tours are currently 50% off! A truly unique experience…This is the pitch from France’s latest tourism ad, "Welcome to Paris," introducing the city's current state to a group of Asian travelers.

Still brave enough to visit Paris? It might just be your final farewell. The French love Palestine so much, they’ve turned their own country into it.

France boasts free public healthcare, free education, a cozy 35-hour workweek, generous unemployment benefits, rent controls, free preschool, extended maternity leave, subsidies for industry and transit, state-owned energy giants, heavy coal taxes, and strict environmental laws. Government spending accounts for a whopping 57.5% of GDP.

France should be a leftist paradise. Yet, they still take to the streets and set everything on fire.
