This is a revolutionary approach to education that I believe will benefit humanity far more than any other approach. We need more people who actually know how to think outside the box and solve real world problems -not just remember facts & figures.
Having raised two sons, I am fully aware of the fact that raising kids who question things and think for themselves is far more challenging than raising kids who simply regurgitate what they are told. However, the rewards are priceless!
Elon Musk's children don't go to normal school. And the reason why will change how you think about education.
He pulled his kids out of one of the most prestigious schools in Los Angeles. Parents were furious. Media called him arrogant. The school had a waitlist of thousands.
His response: "They're teaching kids to solve problems that already have answers. I need them to solve problems nobody's thought of yet."
So he built a school. Inside SpaceX. Called it Ad Astra. No grades. No tests. No subjects in the traditional sense.
A nine year old could take apart a rocket engine and present their findings to actual SpaceX engineers. Students didn't study history. They debated whether they'd make different decisions than historical leaders using the same information available at the time.
The school had no grade levels. A seven year old could work alongside a thirteen year old if they were interested in the same problem.
When asked why he structured it this way, Elon said something that stuck with me:
"I don't care if they know the answer. I care if they know which questions are worth asking."
Most people spend their entire education learning how to be right. Elon teaches his children how to be curious.
The system rewards answers. Life rewards questions.
Turning a Cybertruck into a lunar rover is a gloriously mad idea! One that could actually work with the right engineering. Swap the tires for metallic mesh wheels, wrap the entire vehicle in multi-layer insulation and radiators to survive 300-degree temperature swings, harden electronics against radiation, and seal every seam against that razor-sharp regolith dust. Add solar arrays or an RTG for power through the long nights, then strip non-essentials to shave mass for launch and range. What starts as a stainless-steel Earth truck becomes a rugged, autonomous Moon buggy. Elon, if you're listening: the aesthetic payoff would be worth every vacuum-rated bolt. 🚀
I appreciate your passion for addressing the challenges we face right here on Earth. Concerns like yours are valid and reflect a deep care for humanity's immediate needs.
Yet this perspective echoes the voices of those who once opposed ocean voyages centuries ago. They argued we should solve problems on land before risking the unknown, warning that explorers would only spread disease and pursue selfish gain. History shows instead that those voyages expanded knowledge, trade, and opportunity in ways that ultimately lifted societies, even as they brought real difficulties.
Space exploration follows a similar path. It drives innovation that improves life on our planet today, from satellite technology to medical advances, while inspiring us to think beyond our current limits. Saving humanity has always involved both tending to home and reaching outward with courage.
We can pursue both without contradiction. 🌚
Big Pharma spent $6 BILLION last yr telling you what drugs to want. Your doctor used to decide that. Now Wall Street does.
Every other country - minus New Zealand & U.S. - banned these ads. We’re the only ones still letting them do it.
Ban pharma ads! Put doctors back in charge
@XFreeze This is an amazing feat, no doubt about it. However, there is one test objective that was skipped. The reigniting of an engine while in space.
WHY THE HELL AM I PAYING TAXES TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THAT:
>CANNOT DEFUND THE TALBAN
>CANNOT SECURE OUR ELECTIONS
>CANNOT BALANCE A BUDGET
>CANNOT READ THE BILLS THEY VOTE ON
>CANNOT PASS TERM LIMITS
>CANNOT PASS DOGE CUTS
WHY ARE WE PAYING TAXES?!!!!!!
It is not just a sliver. Below are just some of the facts that support my position. Please also keep in mind the stats below are from 2022-2023 and the situation has only gotten worse. I have personally observed this in Charlotte!
Key Figures for Major Metros (Primarily as % of Single-Family Rentals) highlight these patterns:
Highest-concentration markets:
- Atlanta: ~25% of SFRs (or ~10% of all rentals); one of the highest.
- Jacksonville, FL: ~21% of SFRs.
- Charlotte, NC: ~18% of SFRs.
- Tampa, FL: ~15% of SFRs.
- Phoenix: ~15% of SFRs.
Top 20 MSAs (by institutional SFR holdings): Average ~12.4% of single-family rentals (and ~4% of all rentals). These metros hold the vast bulk (~77-80%) of institutional SFR properties.
Broader view: In the 20 largest MSAs for institutional activity, large investors own ~13% of SFRs on average in some breakdowns.
I'm headed to Tahoe in a few weeks to be a pacer for my daughter-in-law (who completed the Yeti 100 in 2024 and, earlier this month, the Hellbender 100) during the Tahoe 200. I was a pacer during both of those events. Would appreciate any advice you might have that could be helpful for our upcoming adventure.
