We have families, and we need to take care of them. We have personal lives outside of school that sustain us and bring us joy. Teachers should never feel guilty about investing time in their own kids. They should never feel guilty about spending time with those they care about.

I think effective administrators are usually characterized by these two things: 1) They support their teachers… always having their back. And 2) They inspire their teachers… continuously reminding them of their core purpose -- making a difference for kids.
Educators talk a lot about the importance of building “relationships.” What that really means... is that we need to focus on PEOPLE. There’s nothing magical about it... and there’s certainly not a formula. Just value the people around you... and care about their well being.
Teachers who teach kids have an advantage over teachers who teach subjects. They understand the role of personal connections in the process of meaningful learning.
