@BurnettRM I know WE know how awesome they are but I’m constantly telling folks around my age about them and I always get blank stares. Which is shameful because I’m 40 and these people were 80s babies like me and should really know better. And the Thief soundtrack is a banger for sure!
@BurnettRM I love sifting through a bunch of mindless reality show crap to get to the prestige catalog I’m subscribed for. Dr Pimple Popper goes so nicely with The Wire and Criterion films.
@BurnettRM I effing LOVE the Terminator theme. It’s an underrated theme in my estimation. I have the 2016 vinyl pressing of the soundtrack that Nicolas Winding Refn and Milan Records put out. Definitely worth seeking out if you don’t already have it.
@TheShining Yoooo! I think I just peed my pants a little. Thanks for the reply and for being an awesomely obsessed weirdo like the rest of us. Been following the Overlook Hotel tumblr for many years.
@TheShining Congrats! Really stoked to get my hands on a copy at some point! Curious if you were able to find any new information or actual footage of the original ending hospital scene? I know Kubrick gave explicit instructions to have it destroyed but one can dream.
@BurnettRM The Rankin/Bass “animagic” films are staples in my childhood holiday memories. A shame they’re sort of a lost art now. They also blessed us with Thundercats and what I feel is the best adaptation of The Hobbit.
@BurnettRM Saw “Just One of the Guys” as a little guy on HBO in the 80s. Like real little. After the scene where the lovely Joyce Hyser reveals her “secrets” to her bff and he exclaims, “You have tits?!”, I promptly went and asked my mother, “Mommy, what are tits?”. Then, SLAP to the face.
@BurnettRM Amen. I also feel that what’s happened with Star Wars is emblematic of a larger problem in pop culture. Too many IPs being homogenized and stripped of the qualities that made them special in the first place.
@BurnettRM Curious if you read the novel? It’s my wife’s all-time favorite (so of course she refuses to watch any adaptation of it) and I found it to be a wonderful read as well. Wondering if it does it justice. The movie definitely did not imho.
