@BrandonBoerner and @matt_boerner grow peanuts, along with other crops, in Cooke, Grayson, and Denton counties.

Brrr!! It’s another day of below-freezing temperatures, and some areas have received quite a bit of snow. But farmers and ranchers are hard at work caring for livestock through this winter storm. They’re breaking ice in water troughs and stock tanks. Feeding hay and checking on their animals. Helping newborn animals stay warm and survive.

Because it’s just what they do. Despite the long hours and cold days and nights, farmers and ranchers work hard to make sure livestock are cared for.

For Matt and Brandon Boerner, growing peanuts is a tradition that goes back six generations.

And as the urban growth of Dallas makes its way to their farm in Pilot Point, their rich legacy helps the two brothers adapt and persevere with each new season.

Meet Brandon and @matt_boerner! The brothers grow peanuts, along with other crops, in Cooke, Grayson and Denton counties.

They’re sixth-generation farmers and ranchers with a passion for agriculture and continuing their family’s farming legacy that dates back to 1891. They have fond memories of riding the tractor with their grandpa and playing in the peanuts when they were younger.

The hard work they learned as kids has helped them as adults in their careers on and off the farm.

And not only do they enjoy growing peanuts, but they like to eat them, too! Especially peanut M&Ms, peanut butter and Snickers!

Why I enjoy seeing green wheat fields? I like bread for my hamburger and rolls with my steak. Some grain nourishes cattle, while the rest gets milled into flour.
