@AlexHormozi You'll never be gratified if you prioritise your own gratification - "A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in"
I think the world probably needs a new person who'll modernize Jung's ideas and teach to the masses.
He's one of the most relevant figures ever and will continue to be so. His ideas are so shrouded (mostly unintentionally) coupled with an aura of mystique that they're inherently easily sellable.
Everyone has heard of the Shadow Work, Anima, Archetype, this and that.. - and everyone is still clueless about what those all mean & what to do with them. It's just an intellectual gymnastics situation.
Jordan Peterson kinda spread the ideas around years ago, was the right place and right time, and I think he (at the time) impacted the world, especially young men, very positively. But clearly the guy was a head center-dominated, cerebral person. The next one probably will (should) be a heart-centered one. More about the practicalities, emotions, connection, integration..
Even the most practical ideas of Jung aren't understood, at all. Someone could do a great job and not only ascend, but also help the masses.
@CEOLandshark Edinger stresses this at the start of the Aion lectures - Jung's work is so dense it should be unpacked one sentence at a time, with a companion book and a latin dictionary. Aion itself could be considered a companion to the Bible.
Both the communists and the fascists will cannibalise Christianity to serve their own aims, while cursing Christians for not doing the same. It will be the responsibility and sacrifice of the Christians to continue holding the middle path.
Again, I don't know where I stand on Christianity, but I know that Christ himself said it is better for you to be thrown in the ocean with a millstone around your neck then it is for you to tempt others to sin, and he also said that sexual sin like indulging in lust is some of the worst.
Jesus Christ himself said in plain language that he would approve of a mafia-style execution for people who unrepentantly do what you do.
Jesus said "go now and sin no more." He did not say "bring on the whores!"
Oh yeah and Jesus also said that there is one single path to faith.
@diviacaroline Can you bridge the gap by comparing your model to a constellation of related thinkers? I find it works better than referencing concepts or disciplines. Ex: 'Kegan/Wilber' transmits better than 'Stage Development'.
@exgenesis Christ (Word/Logos) is the pattern through which greater complexity emerges, characterised by overcoming preservation (sin) through sacrifice (love), toward unification with the divine. The crucifixion is a revelation of this process through Jesus who calls on us to participate.
@KelseyTuoc You're smuggling in your own claims as to the nature of truth and evaluating based on those axioms. This is rejected in both Genesis 2 and the first lines of the Tao Te Ching.
@ericweinstein This assumes that academia still possesses widespread cultural influence, can be saved, and should be saved. I'm not convinced the tech-billionaires would agree with these premises.
@EudaimoniaEsq Death is inevitable from the moment of conception. Why is the phenomenological experience of an additional 80 years of non-existence relevant to the decision?
@pleasemilf Why would the correct response for the victim of a multi-generational cycle of determinism be to resent their parents? He is absolved of responsibility but the parents are expected to be rational and agentic?
