@alison_tree@piet_ost@a_dalpra@VedangMurthy@nickva1@Adham_Hijab@NoraSundahl Well, I hope this “no-touch cure” strategy is a good one! Most of my patients are fiducial-free. Almost all are enema-free. Approximately half are bladder empty (on BEFORE trial).
If that other stuff helps, someone please prove it, and I will change!
👋👋 prospective residents : Please join us on 09/17 for a meet and greet with myself and our residents to learn about our excellent radiation oncology residency program at University of Miami! @BrandonMahal@belladreyfuss25@IOgobuiro@drbredel

Miami turns 130 today.
On July 28, 1896, 368 men crowded into The Lobby, a pool hall near the Miami River, to create a city. They cast 344 votes.
The group included 162 Black men, many of them laborers who helped build the railroad and the young settlement, alongside merchants, farmers, tradesmen and railroad workers.
Long before incorporation, the Tequesta lived along these waters.
Modern Miami took shape because a few stubborn people believed an unlikely place could become a great American city.
Julia Tuttle relentlessly pushed Henry Flagler to bring his railroad south. Mary Brickell backed the effort with her land and business savvy. Flagler laid the tracks.
The railroad arrived in April. By July, they had incorporated a city.
That is an astonishing amount of ambition packed into a few months.
Miami was a gritty startup city before anyone used the term. There was no guarantee it would work. Just heat, mosquitoes, hard work and people willing to make an enormous bet on the future.
Happy 130th birthday Miami!
🚀 great time for our department! We continue to recruit some of the best talent in the country and big visions @drbredel are coming true! @SylvesterCancer@nbn426

Interim results from the international phase 3 Miami HEAT trial, presented at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) Congress, found that five radiation treatments provided cancer control comparable to the traditional 26-treatment approach for appropriately selected patients with localized prostate cancer.
“The core question is whether we can concentrate treatment in a way that preserves effectiveness while reducing the burden on patients,” said Dr. Matthew Abramowitz, principal investigator of the Miami HEAT trial, associate professor of radiation oncology at the Miller School and researcher at Sylvester.
Patients receiving the five-treatment approach also experienced improved short-term gastrointestinal side effects, while long-term side effects remained comparable between both groups. https://t.co/wNhkX7GPaP.
Absolute best part of the year - orienting our four new Rad Onc residents @SylvesterCancer - can’t wait to see what you all accomplish 🙌☺️
