Israel once wanted a king so badly that they ignored the warning.
God told them through Samuel:
A king will take your sons.
Take your daughters.
Take your fields.
Take your servants.
Take your freedom.
But the people still wanted a king.
That is why Samuel matters.
He loved his nation enough to tell the truth about it.
He honored God enough not to flatter power.
He refused to call warning “hatred.”
He refused to call truth “rebellion.”
That feels timely.
Because 250 years later, we still struggle with the same question:
Can we love a nation and still tell the truth about what it has taken?
Can we honor what is good without hiding what was evil?
Can we celebrate freedom without pretending everyone was free?
And a nation that fears honest memory may need more than celebration.
It may need a Samuel. #250thBirthday
The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:7-8
Juneteenth hits different when you remember
Freedom had been declared, but it had not been delivered.
Today I’m thankful for TRUTH.
Thankful for FREEDOM.
Yet, I am wondering what has been spoken over your life. But you’re still waiting on it.
Happy Juneteenth. #FreedomDay
Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage is a debt we can never fully repay, and their legacy will never be forgotten. #MemorialDay
On this Pentecost Sunday.
Ezekiel stood in a valley of bones and God asked him the most uncomfortable question. Can these bones live?
He said “Lord, You know.” Which is the most honest prayer any of us can pray.
And then God told him to preach to the dead.
That’s the assignment. Preach anyway. Show up anyway. Believe anyway.
The wind came after the word.
Today whatever feels dead in your life, your family, your city, your church, your life. This is the day we remember that God specializes in things that should not be possible.
May dry bones be awakened everywhere all across the nation and around the world today! @acckcorg
The resting place of Noah’s Ark has been found, and archaeological researcher Andrew Jones has been work tirelessly for years to show this to the world.
Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment is. There were 613 commandments in the Jewish law. 613. And He summarized the entire thing in two sentences. Love God. Love people. Every theologian in the room had spent their whole life debating the 613 and a carpenter’s son from Nazareth made them all irrelevant in ten seconds.
The authorities paid the guards at the tomb to say they fell asleep and the disciples stole the body. Think about that story for 10 seconds. If every guard was asleep how did any of them know who took it. That’s the best lie the most powerful government in the world could come up with. Because the truth was worse for them. The tomb was empty and nobody could explain it. 2000 years later they still can’t. He is Risen!
A group of men literally watched their friend call a dead man out of a grave. Lazarus walked out still wrapped in burial cloth. They saw it with their own eyes. Three years later their same friend dies on a cross and they lock themselves in a room convinced it’s over. Witnessing a miracle doesn’t build your faith. Remembering it does. Don’t forget what you already survived.
Tomorrow is Easter. If you’re in KC come see what this is about. Antioch Community Church. Your next chapter might start in a room you almost didn’t walk into.
When Jesus died there was a 60 foot curtain in the temple that separated people from God’s presence. It was so thick historians say horses tied to each side couldn’t tear it. When Jesus took his last breath it ripped from the top down. No human hand could have torn it. God Himself tore it open. In real time. The moment His Son died He ripped the barrier between you and Him from ceiling to floor. This was a sign. No priest. No permission. No waiting. You now have direct access to God! Go to Him boldly. #GoodFriday
Imagine knowing your business partner just signed a deal to destroy you. You have proof. You know the exact amount he was paid. And instead of confronting him you get on your knees and wash his feet. That’s what Jesus did to Judas the Maundy Thursday night before he died. Most of us won’t even forgive someone who left us on read.
The man who betrayed Jesus wasn’t an enemy. He was the CFO. Managed all the money. Sat at every dinner. Heard every sermon. Had more access to Jesus than almost anyone alive. And he still sold him out. Access doesn’t equal allegiance. Some of the most dangerous people in your life have a front row seat.
A man walked into a building full of people exploiting others and didn’t say a word. He sat down. Braided a whip by hand. Then flipped every table in the room. That wasn’t anger management failure. That was calculated. He gave himself time to reconsider and still chose violence against the system. That man was Jesus. #holyweek
