LIFE UPDATES:
1) Tia and I bought a house!
2) It's not in Duluth 😢
The past 6 years have been amazing, but we're ready to get closer to family. My last day with WDIO isn't until May 31st, so I have three more weeks before I have to actually process my emotions. 🙈
Despite recent rainfall, much of the state remains behind average for May rainfall thus far. Deficits are expected to grow over the next 7 days with forecast precipitation values unable to keep pace with average statewide. #WeatherLoon#mnwx
RADAR UPDATE: A Tornado Watch has extended eastward across parts of Southern Minnesota until 1 AM. A Tornado Warning extends from Nobles County into Jackson County until 7 pm. #Weatheroon#mnwx https://t.co/qHOMI8EZoR
A Tornado Watch is in effect for portions of Southwest Minnesota until 10 pm. Thunderstorms in South Dakota have already demonstrated potential for tornadoes and 80 mph winds. Track the storms with us: https://t.co/qHOMI8EZoR
International Falls had a low of 32 or colder each of the first 11 days of May, but that streak broke today and milder overnights are ahead! #WeatherLoon#mnwx
Enjoy a mild night before a cold front rolls across the region. By Tuesday and Wednesday, high temperatures will be in the ballpark of tonight's lows, and overnight temps will return to frost/freeze territory. #WeatherLoon#mnwx

As we close out April, here's where our snow season stands. The Twin Cities was within 3" of average. May areas fell short, with the exception being areas of NW MN and far NE MN. #WeatherLoon#mnwx
Drought Update: Some of Northern Minnesota has seen improvement with the removal of severe drought and shrinking of moderate drought. Additional improvements are possible, including potential for some to see heavy rain with this evening's storms. #WeatherLoon#mnwx
1:50 PM 4/23/26: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued across central and southern Minnesota and eastern Wisconsin through 8 PM CDT. Winds to 70 mph, hail to 1.5" in diameter, and a tornado or two are possible with storms this afternoon into the evening hours. #mnwx
3 PM Temperatures: Hot enough for ya? We've seen a swath of 90s in the Minnesota River Valley today with 97° in Olivia! 🥵

I don't think I've properly introduced @leagracewx on Twitter yet, but we're so happy to have her! Lea started at WDIO on Monday and has been training over the past few days. Stay tuned for her on-air appearance on GMN later this week!
I've been overwhelmed by warmth and kindness from viewers as we approach my last day at WDIO. I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Special shoutout to a woman who delivered a gift package to the station this morning! The tie and socks will be worn tomorrow 🥰
Our Friday is cool, windy, and wet with scattered showers and thunderstorms sweeping the Northland from southwest to northeast through the day. https://t.co/m1jeVBpZUg
The first three months of the year put Duluth about a half inch behind normal precipitation and nearly three inches behind January - March 2023. With a dry May last year and plenty of recent moisture, we've now closed that year-to-date precip gap and ended up an inch above normal
It's expected to be a significant weather day for much of Iowa into portions of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Potential for tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds falls looking north. Parts of the Northland not included in the severe threat could still see flash flooding
How about a couple inches of snow? 5 years ago Sunday, that's what we had! May 19, 2019 set a daily snow record in Duluth and pushed the monthly snow total to a full 5" ahead of the previous record.
It's another day with a breezy east wind creating a spread in temps based on how close you are to Lake Superior. Rain approaches the Northland from the west this evening and exits to the east through the day Thursday. https://t.co/m1jeVBps4I
