PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The Brantley County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on June 24, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at the Brantley County Commission Office, 33 Allen Road, Nahunta, Georgia.

The Board will consider a rezoning request by the Brantley County Development Authority for Parcel No. B048 108A, located on Pembers Road, Nahunta, Georgia.
Current Zoning: Agricultural
Requested Zoning: Heavy Industrial

TEMPORARY CLOSURE NOTICE
The Brantley County Transfer Station will be closed Wednesday, June 10, from 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. due to a funeral service. Normal operations will resume at 1:00 P.M.

Burn piles larger than 6 ft x 6 ft must still be reported to the Fire Department prior to burning. Please continue to burn responsibly and remain mindful of changing weather conditions.

Brantley County is included in the declared disaster area for the 2025 drought.

Small businesses, cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofits that suffered economic losses may qualify for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) up to $2,000,000. Loan amounts are based on economic injury determined by SBA, minus any insurance or other recoveries. Farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural enterprises are not eligible by law.

SBA disaster loans are now available for Brantley County residents, businesses, and nonprofits affected by the wildfires.

Low-interest loans are available for homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofits to help cover physical property damage and economic injury.

📍 A Disaster Loan Outreach Center is open at the Brantley County Tax Assessor's Office, 234 Brantley St #500, Nahunta through June 18. Walk-ins welcome. Hours: Mon–Fri, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Southern Boys Disaster Relief Team, Big Tex, and CareLift Relief will be providing community meals for families and individuals impacted by the wildfires.

Important Trash Pickup Update: Ft. McIntosh to Hwy 110

Ryland Environmental is working to complete all routes impacted by fire-related delays.

Due to more trash than trucks could handle today, some areas were unable to be serviced. Crews will return tomorrow morning to finish remaining pickups. Tuesday routes will be completed early tomorrow, and Wednesday routes will run as normal.

Residents in the affected area are asked to leave their trash out for collection.

We appreciate your patience as service is restored.

BRANTLEY COUNTY FIRE EMERGENCY

A State of Emergency has officially been declared for Brantley County as of April 22, 2026 due to the ongoing wildfire. The Brantley County Board of Commissioners and Emergency Management Agency have activated the Emergency Operations Plan to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Brantley County citizens.

Please stay alert, follow evacuation guidance, and look out for your neighbors and community.
