A Forever Caregiver — A Different Kind of Journey

To the parents cheering from the sidelines…
To the ones sending their kids off to college,
Planning weddings, holding grandbabies—
I see you.
I celebrate you.
And I understand.

I’m a dad, too.
I have sons who might one day leave the nest, start families, chase dreams.
And I have a daughter—Alex—who won’t.

You might be planning your child’s graduation party.
I’m planning her next neurology appointment.
You’re teaching your child how to drive.
I’m researching wheelchair repairs.

You post move-in day photos from the dorm.
I update our home to fit medical equipment.
You’re filling out college applications.
I’m filling out disability paperwork—again.

See, we’re both parents.
We both love fiercely.
We both want the best for our children.
But the road we travel isn’t the same.

You’re preparing your child to launch.
I’m preparing to stay.
Forever.

Alex won’t get married.
She won’t call me about a job interview.
She won’t surprise me with news that I’m going to be a grandpa.
She will never live alone.
She will never live without care.

And while that truth carries grief,
It also carries deep, sacred love.
Because I have the honor—
Yes, the honor—of loving my daughter in a way that will never change.
I get to be her voice, her protector, her anchor.
I get to witness resilience the world doesn’t see.
I get to fight for her every day.

But I also get tired.
I grieve quietly while the world keeps moving.
I smile at your celebrations, while navigating another IEP.
I hold space for your joy,
Even when mine looks different.

I’m not asking for pity.
And I’m not asking you to understand fully.
But I do ask this:

Please don’t forget us.

Don’t assume we’re “just parents like everyone else.”
Because while your parenting has a finish line,
Mine does not.

I will be a caregiver
Until my last breath.

So yes, you’ll always be “mom” or “dad”…
But some of us—
We’re forever caregivers.

We live in love that doesn’t graduate,
Doesn’t move out,
Doesn’t grow up and away—
But grows deeper, steadier, and more relentless with time.

So here’s to all of us—
Whatever road we’re on.
May we honor each other’s paths.
And may we never forget:
All love counts.
All love matters.
But some love carries the weight forever.

🚨There’s Real Hope for California: SCOTUS could potentially END “Election Month” Once and For All!

Right now, the U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to rule in a major case called Watson v. Republican National Committee.

What the case is about:
Federal law has long set a clear Election Day for president, Senate, and House races—the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. But some states, including Mississippi (and California), allow mail ballots that are postmarked by Election Day to still be counted if they arrive several days later.

Mississippi gives a five-business-day “grace period.”

Challengers argue this violates federal law that says ballots must actually be received by Election Day.

What it implies for California and the country:

The Supreme Court heard arguments in March, and most justices appeared READY TO SIDE WITH THE CHALLENGERS. If they rule that way (expected this month), it would strike down those post-Election Day counting windows in roughly 15 states plus D.C.—including California’s rules—for all federal elections.

That means no more “ballots keep trickling in” for days or weeks after polls close.

How impactful could this be?

Absolutely Huge. It means Faster, clearer results on Election Night instead of weeks later.

new original UFO history documentary

This documentary covers the early life and career of Steven Spielberg leading up to his first major UFO film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, released in 1977. It covers how Spielberg’s lifelong fascination with UFOs and with film making would ultimately lead to his seminal UFO film.

It also covers J Allen Hynek who was the scientific advisor to the Air Force’s UFO investigation Project Blue Book in the 1950s and 1960s. Hynek would eventually leave Project Blue Book accusing the Air Force of covering up the reality of the UFO phenomenon. Hynek would later be an advisor to Spielberg and would greatly influence Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
