International Students’ Day reminds us that access to education is a basic human right — one that has been taken from thousands of Ukrainian students due to the full-scale invasion.
We’re happy to share a special article from our partners Razom for Ukraine, released in honor of International Students' Day.

The world often forgets how much of its cultural heritage has Ukrainian roots. At Brave Generation we reclaim these stories and support a new generation of Ukrainian leaders to rise.
Mentorship is just one of the programs we run at Brave Generation – yet it transforms lives on both sides of the screen.
«Out of a simple form I filled out on the way home from work on a random Thursday came an experience that has me convinced I'll be searching a long time to find a more valuable way to spend a summer.» - Conor O’Siadhail on his mentoring experience.
The Peace Walks program in Northern Ireland by the Yale International Leadership Center became a safe space for Ukrainian youth to pause, heal, and reflect.
“I allowed myself to open up, to speak freely about my trauma. That alone was a small victory,” Natalia Ryabkina, Brave Generation participant.
This summer, Brave Generation supported a group of Ukrainian participants in joining Peace Walk, a week-long walking residency in Northern Ireland organized by Yale International Leadership Center.
Thanks to the program, they explored key sites, reflecting on mediation, reconciliation, and diplomacy, gaining meaningful insights to apply in peacebuilding and community initiatives back in Ukraine.
Brave Generation founder Tanya Kotelnykova is featured in The Atlantic, where she writes about how a USAID shutdown could weaken American influence and give more space to Russian soft power.

Meeting the people behind the headlines is where understanding truly begins. Personal connections make the war real, turning reports into lived stories. “ Reading reports every morning on how many drones and missiles have crossed Ukrainian airspace feels very different when you know someone who has to sleep under the constant barrage of russian shaheds every night.” - Kristofers, Impact UA intern at Vidkryti
EmpowerHer successfully concluded: a 6-month program supporting displaced young Ukrainian women, implemented with the support of The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and UN Women Ukraine.
EmpowerHer in numbers:
• 800+ hours of one-on-one mentorship
• 280+ hours of English language training
• 4 leadership development workshops
• 480+ hours of individual therapy
• 8 group therapy sessions
• 10 university admission workshops
• 2-day Kyiv in-person workshop
Together, we’re nurturing a generation of resilient leaders driving change in Ukraine.
ImpactUA is about mutual impact: interns make a difference for Ukraine, and the experience shapes them. “My internship confirmed that I want to become a psychologist. I felt exhilarated helping adoptive families and knew I was in the right place.” — Anastasia, NGO Ridni. A true career boost, guiding young leaders toward their next steps.
Through Impact UA, together with our partner NGOs, we opened doors for interns to gain diverse experience.
At Unbroken Foundation, Olha combined translations, fundraising, and veteran-focused animation workshops; Daria bridged IT, media, and event promotion; and Conor built an AI chatbot for hospitals and consulted on digital transformation.
Different experiences, one shared impact.
We are proud to share that our Vice President, Anastasia Vlasenko, had a chance to join a meeting with Ukraine’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Matviy Bidny, at the Ukrainian Hub in Prague. The discussion focused on the urgent challenges facing Ukrainian youth: from mass emigration to the reintegration of displaced and war-affected children.
This meeting once again confirmed that Ukraine’s recovery depends on investing in its young generation, which stands at the core of Brave Generation’s work.
Our Impact UA internship successfully came to an end! Over 3 weeks, US students and Brave Generation alumni studying abroad joined internship & learning experiences with leading Ukrainian NGOs like Cities4Cities, Right to Protection, INDEX, Lviv Media Forum, Unbroken, Ridni, Promprylad Foundation, Teple Misto, and Ukrainian Volunteer Service.
The next generation isn’t waiting—they’re making change happen!
