Local AI agents protect your privacy by keeping inference and data processing on your own device
This privacy comes at a cost: higher battery usage. Agentic workflows use far more resources than typical LLM interactions, even on failed tasks.
To fix this, we built AgentStop.

Chromium ships security fixes, Web API updates, and platform changes constantly. Not every Chromium based browser gets those updates to users on the same schedule. That gap is Chromium drift.
Our privacy lead @shivan_kaul built a public dashboard to make it visible.
When a browser ships an older Chromium milestone, users can be waiting on fixes that are already public upstream, widening the window between a vulnerability being patched in Chromium and protection actually reaching the device.
This is the kind of transparency we want more of in the browser space.

We’re aware of a new YouTube issue occurring today and have released a fix for it: https://t.co/bGYBG3nxAi
To get the fix as soon as possible, manually update the browser’s ad blocker. Here’s how to do it on each platform 👇
Desktop: Go to Settings > Shields > Content filtering and click the “Update lists” button
iOS: Go to Settings > Shields & Privacy > Content Filtering and click the “Update Lists” button
Android: Go to Settings > Brave Shields & privacy > Content filtering and click the “UPDATE” button
After that, reload your YT tabs.
If you go to Brave://components on Android and desktop after updating, you should now see “Brave Default Adblock Filters” at Version 1.0.1989 or later and “Experimental ad blocker” at Version 1.0.84 or later.
Let me know if you’re still having issues!

@CamilleWanyan@iAnonymous3000@brave Brave Nightly is the experimental channel for testing features that will later land in Stable.
For anything personal or sensitive, use Brave Stable.
Fans and supporters who run Nightly help us catch bugs before they hit the general user base, and we love them for it.
This is the case for shipping Brave Origin as the default on all Linux distributions.
Free for every Linux user.
Time-to-patch is the part of the threat model most distros are still getting wrong. Brave’s official native Linux repositories exist so users don’t sit on a stale build.
Most AI research products are downstream of someone else's search infrastructure.
The retrieval layer is not a minor implementation detail. It decides what gets searched, what gets logged, what gets ranked, what gets excluded, and which third parties sit between your question and the answer.
Brave Search is different because it runs on our own independent search index. Deep Research runs directly against that index.
You can also expand the Deep Research panel to inspect the steps it took.
Conversations are encrypted, with the key stored locally on your device. They are automatically deleted from Brave's servers after 24 hours of inactivity. Brave does not retain your IP address. If you choose to share a conversation, it is stored for up to 7 days.
Deep Research is going to become one of the most sensitive search workflows people use.
Try it: https://t.co/wzkx3Ra8HS
If you need a more detailed answer from Brave Search, try our Deep Research feature! 🔬
Deep Research runs dozens of queries against our independent search index to produce the most comprehensive response.

@privacy_guides Thank you for covering Brave Leo’s TEE work in your news section.
We’d be grateful if you’d consider evaluating Brave Leo for the AI Chat page, especially now that Leo supports both a local BYOM path and a verifiably private TEE-backed cloud path in Brave Nightly.

Brave Search proved it's possible to build a fully independent and competitive search engine that competes with Google.
"Google's advantage lies in distribution and monetization to pay for it. None of those levers are touched by this [EU DMA] proposed regulatory framework..."

The issue is that a lot of people genuinely believe DuckDuckGo and Ecosia are the privacy-preserving options on this list. They market themselves that way. We read both privacy policies.
DuckDuckGo runs on Bing. Ad clicks are managed by Microsoft's ad network, and the privacy guarantee on those clicks is a Microsoft commitment [not a technical control, straight from DDG's own policy]. Their revenue model depends on Microsoft serving those ads.
In May 2022, security researcher Zach Edwards found DDG's browser was allowlisting Microsoft trackers on third-party sites (Bing and LinkedIn domains).
Founder Gabriel Weinberg confirmed the same day: their Microsoft search syndication agreement contractually prevented them from blocking Microsoft-owned scripts.
Ecosia is the more interesting case. Policy states every query automatically sends your IP and search terms to Bing or Google. Bing retains IP for 6 months, cookie IDs 18 months. With consent, Ecosia layers Microsoft Clarity on top, which captures session recordings up to 30 days. Their AI chat pipes queries to OpenAI, retained 30 days.
The only major consumer search engine with an independent web index outside Google, Bing, Yandex and Baidu is Brave Search.
iOS won't let you add it.
