John Carpenter says nobody has figured out the ending of The Thing correctly yet

@D3f3n3str4t10n Yeah, I was skimming the artbook when I learned it was an option at all, and it’s one of the only interactions I actually felt for (partially from playing the prologue, which I really liked) so the fact 87% of players missed it for such a stupid reason bothers the shit out of me
Played this a second time to check and I liked it even less. Also, why is one of the only interesting scenes hidden behind a secret boss you have to do the most random bullshit to trigger?
Been watching through the newer seasons, and they seem like they’re getting better, but no matter how much they try to pull at your heartstrings, I don’t think they’ll ever reach this level of simple, effective character drama again
📺On October 11, 1957, ‘Leave It To Beaver’ aired U.S. network television’s first toilet. The episode had been delayed after CBS censors demanded that the toilet scene be removed. Eventually, a deal was reached that allowed only the tank to be shown
My favorite moments in badly written media are when they try to have characters list off why they’re so close to each other and you can tell even the writer’s struggling to find any
I don’t really even think 90% of people care about this topic. They just wanna get paid, since if they did really care, they’d be talking about something actually interesting instead of this movie that’s so obviously shallow, it’s not worth their time
It’s not enough to stimulate the compulsion in their brains to feel validated over an opinion someone else gave them. You need to ask them to challenge their thinking, view it from another angle, and there’s nothing more antithetical to that than this dead horse beating (6/?)
I’ve always taken my philosophy for video creation from something I read in Bakuman, which is that people don’t know what they want until you give it to them, so while it might seem like they want this lowest common denominator regurgitation, I think they need more (5/?)
Like, I hate to get preachy about video integrity, and I’m usually willing to let people get their bag, since it’s harmless, but one thing I just can’t help despising is feeding into something without any unique view to basically talk in circles, since people want it (4/?)
So whenever I see a video over 10 minutes talking about it, I know it’s either gonna be a shitty, drawn out recap for ad revenue or a discussion of the trend surrounding it, as if that hasn’t been tapped to death, too, and people eat it up ‘cause they like being validated (3/?)
Every video I’ve seen on this, whether it’s defense or hate, they always bring up the same points: main girl sucks, Willow was screwed over, Maliens are only funny part, labrys and drag queen discourse, etc, it’s always the same shit, and it never has much of a deeper point (2/?)
I’ve thought about making a video saying how much I hate slop chasing, since when you get down to it, Lesbian Space Princess is a perfectly boring 3/10 with nothing truly insightful to say about it that wasn’t said in the first few days it was trending (1/?)
