A new GM in Miami: Dolphins are hiring Packers VP of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their general manager, sources tell me and @AdamSchefter.

Sullivan received high recommendations from people in Green Bay, most notably Matt LaFleur, who works with him daily. Sullivan’s interview was described as exceptional, and the hiring group, including Aikman, was unanimous in the decision.

Thoughts from both sides of this deal:

Eagles: They land one of the top players available at a key position of need. Phillips is only 26 and if this works for the rest of the season, he could have a future beyond this season.

Dolphins: The right play. For a 2-7 team, they need to think future and acquire draft capital when available. If Phillips departed in free agency, they might have landed a solid compensatory pick, but that would not be better than this pick and it would not be until 2027. Good business.
