I don't like using media as a proxy front for political disagreements, I'd rather just enjoy it and discuss the actual stuff than culture war bs.

Anime becoming a lot more mainstream in the past decade has just made it better to be an anime fan, just look at social acceptability. People don't get looked down on for liking anime nearly as much.
