I’m shocked that Russia can crash a building onto sleeping families in a European capital, murdering 30 people, without any meaningful reaction from the world whatsoever.
🇺🇸: The FIFA World Cup should be held anywhere but the United States of America going forward.
The world is starting to sour on the fact that we gave the football World Cup to the United States of America.
No other host has so completely confused running a tournament with running a parade about itself. America grabbed 78 of the 104 matches, every knockout round and the final, then sat Mexico and Canada with 13 games each. Then it bolted a Super Bowl halftime show onto the final, because ninety minutes of the world’s favourite sport apparently cannot entertain anyone without fireworks and a pop star.
This is the low life patriotic chest-thumping we were warned about. Flags everywhere, wounded pride, a host nation absolutely certain the planet tuned in to admire it rather than the football. We saw this exact film in Russia 2018, and America is beating that record comfortably.
Mexico and Canada gave us the real thing. Warmth, noise, genuine love for the game. We should have left it with them.
Wake up, FIFA. This is the ONLY logical solution.
No, Rachel Notley didn't ban coal mining on the Eastern slopes.
That was uh Peter Lougheed.
Chatted with Drew Anderson of the Narwhal to help sort out fact from fiction on the history and possible future of coal mining in Alberta.

In a 9 to 6 vote, Calgary City Council has voted to listen to the citizens of Calgary and not the demands of Danielle Smith and Cowboys.

Over 200,000 Albertans came out and signed a petition saying no coal mining on the Eastern Slopes. Now the Premier says it's too late to put the petition question to a referendum.
For months, the Premier changed the rules for the separatists. Their signatures weren't even validated. The court said their petition was unconstitutional. But the Premier gave her separatist friends their referendum anyway.
But when it comes to coal mining on the Eastern Slopes, suddenly there's all these rules. Suddenly it's too late.
This is hypocrisy.
Alberta's New Democrats have always been clear: no coal mining on the Eastern Slopes.
You know what is really sad about this story. It isn't the fact that Fort McMurray residents had to fill potholes because the government has not plan and doesn't care.
What's sad is Fort McMurray will still vote for the UCP next election.
@TELUSsupport I need help. Tried your frustrating AI-driven process to no effect. I have multiple tech issues that I’ve exhausted self-help approaches. Need a tech on site
Corb Lund has officially dropped off off what he says are more than 200,000 signatures for his Water Not Coal petition with Elections Alberta.
If EA confirms at least 178K valid signatures, then Premier Danielle Smith has to act on it
Alberta, what do you get out of the $91,000,000, yes, $91 million referendum?
Nothing.
This $91 million could have been spent on building 3 schools, or 4 senior homes, or emergency rooms, hiring doctors or nurses.
Instead, you get nothing.

A small fringe minority of Albertans are going to cost the economy billions of dollars because of Danielle Smith & Pierre Poilievre is all for it.
The same small fringe minority that cost the Canadian economy billions during the freedumb convoy. Also supported by Smith & Pierre.
Great to know that another petition succeeded.
This one was completed without any illegal access to the list of electors and will be verified by Elections Alberta.

Russia is now threatening other nearby countries far more openly than before. Every neighbor of Russia heard what was said about Armenia, whose people are the only ones who have the right to decide and will choose the future of their country. What Russia says about Armenia is, in truth, not about Armenia alone.
No one can be left without support – Europe has no right to lose any of its peoples, to leave any country behind. Armenia must be supported. Moldova must be supported. The Baltic states. Azerbaijan must be supported. We must find ways to support the people of Georgia as well – and this is a shared European task. No one can be lost.
