@RogersHistory Have no issue with drop ins when they’re only a few minutes now and again. Do have an issue with graded learning walks/observations though- they need to be put in the past!
@adamboxer1 Depends how they’re used. Seen them be used poorly but also seen them be beneficial. My school changed recently to the teacher deciding when a student can take their time out pass. Student can request but it’s down to the teacher. Has made a huge difference
Just seen a school no longer making blazers compulsory, allowing PE kit all day on PE days, allowing black trainers and bright hair dye in one swoop.
Talk about lowering standards.
The entire Schalke team, led by Edin Dzeko, on the piss in Marbella after being promoted back to the Bundesliga.
Their game away at Nurnberg on Saturday could be worth a watch. 😂
We don't have posters and displays in our classrooms for this reason.
They increase distraction and cognitive load. Asking teachers to spend time making displays is time they could be creating lessons and feedback.
Displays making is an utter waste of time.
This sounds like a very distorted view of belonging. If belonging = having fun then I’m all for school trips. But schools aren’t meant to be places of fun - learning is often quite the opposite. Fact is belonging doesn’t mean to have fun - it means to be a part of something.
I'm embarrassed that there are teachers who believe in learning styles.
I'm embarrassed that there are schools that display nonsense posters.
I'm embarrassed that there are teacher training providers that still communicate unevidenced and harmful ideas and pedagogies.
But these problems are ours to own. It's our profession. It's our job and our responsibility to challenge. Mocking, pouring scorn, and patting each other on the back because we are enlightened isn't going to help anybody.
We need to write, we need to speak, we need to get out there. It's our profession, it's our responsibility.
