On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, @HakiKNCHR joins the global community in raising awareness of a growing and dangerous form of human trafficking under this year's theme: "Trapped Behind the Scam."
Human trafficking is evolving. Across the world, criminal networks are trafficking women, men and young people into online scam compounds where they are forced to commit cyber-enabled financial crimes, including romance scams, investment fraud and other online scams. Victims are subjected to intimidation, violence, threats, debt bondage, constant surveillance and impossible work quotas, leaving them trapped in exploitative conditions with little chance of escape.
Trafficking in persons is a grave violation of human rights. Every person has the right to freedom, dignity and protection from exploitation.
As we mark this day, KNCHR calls for strengthened efforts to prevent trafficking, protect survivors, prosecute perpetrators and enhance cross-border cooperation to dismantle criminal networks exploiting vulnerable people.
If an online job opportunity seems too good to be true, verify it. Stay informed. Stay vigilant. Together, we can help end human trafficking.

The Media has been reporting matters refugees like any other story, yet behind every story of those seeking refuge in Kenya are a community, integrated among locals and who enjoy basic rights while in Kenya. This was part of the engagement that @HakiKNCHR held with journalists in Uasin Gishu County as part of awareness sessions on advancing the rights of refugees and host communities.
During the workshop, The Commission sensitized the media team on the human rights based approach in dealing with and reporting on refugee and host communities to enhance the enjoyment of rights by both parties.

Yesterday I was honoured to attend the Rwanda Bar Association Annual Conference and AGM in Kigali on behalf of the @ealawsociety
I commend the @Rwanda_Bar Association for their exceptional hospitality and the remarkable progress made in operating their offices and Boutique hotel. A palatial structure that includes a hotel, gym, and swimming pool dedicated to the welfare and wellbeing of advocates. This is a powerful statement on investing in the profession beyond the courtroom.
In attendance at the conference was the Chief Justice of Rwanda, Hon. Lady Justice Domitilla Mukantaganzwa, the @LawyersofAfrica - PALU President Mr. Tewedros Getachew, Law Society of Kenya President Ms. @FaithOdhiambo8 and other distinguished guests.
The experience was crowned by a gala dinner that beautifully celebrated Rwanda’s rich culture, a reminder that our legal institutions thrive best when they remain deeply rooted in the heritage and values of our people. A truly inspiring gathering.
Félicitation Bâttonier @Moisenkunda Your leadership, together with that of your Governing Council, has been exemplary. You continue to inspire not only the legal profession within the region, but across Africa!
