@EmergingSocial1 this week I learned about the different perspectives of disability. You see many jokes and memes that include something with a disability or a term that is used. More people need to be mindful of what they say and share since it can be hurtful to another #CO575
Reading about the deepfakes was very interesting. It was crazy to learn about all it can do. I think that it can be soon appealing to some people for entertainment. However I think it’s mostly harmful bc you can impersonate people and do alot of bad things @EmergingSocial1#co575
Some people said like how they try to practice other races culture, they wish they had darker skin. I think people should just use what color skin they are as emoji, but I also don’t think it’s a big deal. But having someone use emoji colors that isn’t theirs is weird.
During this week I learned more about racism and how media plays a role. BLM was spread on social media which helped raise awareness since so many people had lost about it. I’m not sure why whites use colored emojis, I think it’s weird @EmergingSocial1#co575
Occupy was successful at spreading movements throughout social media . Platforms like Twitter made it easy for people to interact and connect with the movements. It was interesting to learn their role and how they were a public sphere @EmergingSocial1#co575
@erincammiso @EmergingSocial1 I agree with you, many employees have spoken about their ways and practices. They seem like a great company but they mostly care about their own gains
Their work-life balance isn’t great and many employees aren’t happy there. They might not be getting the pay/growth they seek, but the job is good enough to keep. Companies will wheel you in by showing you the good things but that is to keep you ok with how it really is there.
This weeks reading about Google was interesting. They are a big name company so many people want to work there just off that. They offer benefits and make it seem like the company is very good to employees. Unfortunately that’s not necessarily the case @EmergingSocial1#co575
The pandemic also made people get to know someone online for longer, especially in the beginning when everyone was scared to meet in person still. I don’t really meet friends thru social media but I did talk to them more through it since the pandemic started
Many people find the people they date through social media. Especially since the pandemic, many resorted to using dating apps. I think it’s good and bad to meet someone over the internet. You don’t know the real them but at least you can get to know them. @EmergingSocial1#co575
@_jreyezzz @EmergingSocial1 I agree with you, it’s wild how someone especially with a good amount of fans behind can spread false information and make people believe it
I think it’s crazy how media has gotten flooded with misinformation and bots. Now people don’t know what to believe and what to not. It changes the perspective of many people since they take in the information. #co575
This week I read about how a lot of false information is spread in the media and how many people believe it. Anyone can be the media and spreading information. I learned that a lot of bots spread false information and 80% of Trumps Twitter activity was from bots. @EmergingSocial1
In this weeks reading I learned how power and different powers connect with social media. Power can control social media since since platforms have strong followings. Mass communication can get out globally and reach many people. @EmergingSocial1#CO575
In the reading it talked about how humans interact and communicate through social media. Also how companies play a big role in what is displayed by taking in data from everyone and using it to better their platform @EmergingSocial1#co575
