This thread has good points. NY Times and others take credit when reporting leads to good outcomes. But when reporting leads to bad outcomes, they pretend they are not responsible.

And if it's open for debate, GOP can say it's reasonable to prohibit that care. GOP gets some cover; they can say it's not bigotry, even the NY Times questions the care. The NY Times is responsible for that.

My problem w/ NY Times's reporting on transgender issues is that they are perpetuating the idea that private medical decisions about care that is approved by major medical orgs is really open to public debate.
