@heikihenken even in the west, utilizing hill tops (multi-terraced if terrain permits like the 7 hills of rome) & neandering choke points & kill boxes were pretty standard practice. I'd reckon there was 100% siege "weapons" utilized against Japanese castles. Sieging is just surround & starve
