Went to a special event @Lourensford in the cellar. Their horrendous parking put a massive dent in the evening. Hundreds of people queueing for 2 machines for 30 mins. Dark parking, saw an old lady fall in the dark and break her nose. Pathetic arrangement. Will avoid in future

Had a really nice skip level with a new hire the other day where I explained to them that showing up and reliably doing their job without error and with a good attitude is a "C".
The ensuing silence was pretty palpable.
I followed up by sharing that a "B" is innovating within a framework they've been given.
An "A" would be innovating above and beyond the framework they've been given.
If they want to advance, they need to be an A - and everyone needs to identify them as an A.
If you have ambitious staff who have advancement expectations, help them understand what excellence actually looks like - because I bet you that their last 5-10 years hasn't taught them it.
It’s been a long road old friend. Back to the seeds of VC in SA. May the road ahead bring you joy and fulfilment.
Cheers @AndreaBoehmert - here’s to you.
@pierredevos@News24 They thrive on division. In unity the EFF and most other politicians have no power. So find what’s good for people, and go the other way. That’s the power they hunger for
1. Employ qualified civil servants (engineers, doctors, business administrators) to drive service delivery. The best plan gets elected for a term - if they fulfil their plan on time, they carry on, if not, NEXT. This rubbish that politicians rule us with no accountability is done
1. Finally opened X for this statement: Having witnessed South Africans come together again this weekend for the World cup, I am reminded we have far more in common than what divides us. If we can ditch the politicians, we can fix this thing ourselves.
@abelmike When you’re pushing a boulder up a mountain and the people that should be pushing with you are jumping on the boulder, tripping you, pushing against you and doing all they can to make you fail. This is our government at the moment. It makes no sense.
@tim_cohen re auditor rotation: As long as the customer pays the policeman, the system is broken. Audit fees should be predetermined (on size), paid centrally & that body appoints the auditors. Company doesn't select them or negotiate the fee. Removes the leverage.
It feels like this year requires me to block all media if I want to retain any sanity, hope and belief in mankind. The negative bombardment is overwhelming. Have to be super selective over who gets into your mind space.
@MeyerDeon Man that’s incredibly Sad. James and I DJ’d on impact radio many moons ago. I was always so excited to see his success. What an amazing talent and what a massive loss.
