I had the privilege to speak to the Dads & Lads at Wesley College on Monday night...around the pressure of expectations, mental health challenges, transitioning from boys to men...and transitioning from fathers of boys to being a father of a young man.
Thanks to Rodney, Becc & Ross for the invite.
Had an awesome time.

Last week I had the privilege of attending the Men's Talk AU Mental Health Awards.
I was honoured to be nominated as a finalist in three categories and incredibly grateful and humble to receive the Stuart Aubrey MLA Community Support Award.
Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to share my story, write books, facilitate workshops, coach individuals and couples, and support thousands of people through some of life's most challenging moments.
This award is not just recognition of my work. It is recognition of the people who have trusted me with their stories, their struggles, and their growth.
No one does this alone. A huge thank you to my beautiful wife Kim, whose unwavering support, encouragement, and belief have helped make all of this possible.
Thank you to Karinda Lobb for the nominations, Paul Litwin and the Men's Talk AU team for creating such an incredible event, Stuart Aubrey MLA, the sponsors, and everyone involved in supporting men's mental health across Australia.
Congratulations to all the finalists, nominees, and award recipients. The work being done in this space is changing lives, strengthening families, and creating stronger communities.
I am grateful, proud, and excited for what lies ahead.
Thank you.
How Do I Know If My Team Is Actually Engaged or Just Going Through the Motions?
Here's a question that should make every leader uncomfortable:
Can you tell the difference between a team that performs and a team that cares?
Because they don't always look the same.
There are teams that will hit every target, meet every deadline, and show up every single day…while being completely disengaged.
The business functions.
The dashboards look fine.
And meanwhile, something quietly drains away.
Compliance vs Engagement!
A compliant employee does what's required.
An engaged employee looks for ways to make things better.
That gap is where your business either grows or stagnates.
Compliant teams show up, do the work, and leave.
Engaged teams notice problems and bring solutions.
They support teammates without being asked.
They think about the business beyond their own job description.
You hear things like:
"Have you thought about trying it this way?"
"I noticed this issue. Here's a possible solution."
That's not job performance.
That's ownership.
The Moment I Understood What Real Engagement Looked Like!
Early in my career as a police officer, our team responded to an armed siege. The offender had already killed someone.
When it came time to take point in the search, I volunteered.
I wasn't ordered to. I stepped forward.
Looking back, the reason wasn’t courage or ego. For me, as the only single guy, I wanted all of my colleagues, my mates, who were married men or married with children…went home that day.
On the other side of that coin…those same senior officers allowed me to go on point. They trusted me. They respected me. They believed in my capability. And I felt part of a team with a shared mission. I already felt that from the years of working together…and when the sh*t hit the fan…I was happy to step up (terrified, but happy to…if that makes sense).
When people feel trusted, respected, and valued, something changes.
They stop doing the minimum.
They start stepping up.
That’s true in policing, and it’s true in business.
Why Leaders Accidentally Create Compliance!
Most workplaces train people (often without realising it)…to follow instructions, avoid mistakes, and stay in their lane.
And they get exactly what they trained for.
People show up.
People do the work.
People leave.
What they don't do is think.
They don't innovate.
They don't take ownership.
And the business misses opportunities that never even make it to the table.
The fix isn't pressure. It's environment.
If every mistake is punished, people stop taking initiative.
If every idea is ignored, people stop sharing them.
If growth is limited, people eventually check out.
Great leaders give people room to grow. They support the learning when someone stumbles, rather than just criticising the outcome.
That's how confidence builds. That's how engagement develops.
The Simplest Engagement Test!
Skip the survey. Have a real conversation.
Ask your people:
• What's one thing you'd change if you owned this business?
• What's frustrating you right now?
• What opportunities are we missing?
• What skills would you like to develop?
Then actually listen. Not to gather data or to find out whether your people are thinking about the business beyond their own role.
Engaged people have ideas. The question is whether you've created a space where those ideas are welcome.
And Then Follow Through
Asking is just the first step. What you do next is what matters.
When someone contributes an idea, explore it.
Give it genuine consideration.
And if it moves forward…say so, publicly, and give credit where it's due.
Nothing reinforces engagement faster than showing people their voice actually changes something.
One Last Question!
If your entire team disappeared tomorrow and was replaced with people who simply followed instructions and hit their KPIs…would your business lose anything?
If the answer is yes, you already know the difference between a performing team and an engaged one.
When leaders create those positive conditions of engagement…their people choose to every day.
So, the question is:
Are your staff engaged?

MEN… YOU KNOW SOMETHING ISN’T RIGHT.
You’ve felt it for a while now.
That quiet voice.
That heaviness.
That frustration.
That feeling that life isn’t quite where it should be.
You know there’s something you need to face…
something you need to deal with…
But instead…
You stayed busy.
You distracted yourself.
You buried it.
You convinced yourself:
“It’ll pass.”
“I’ll be fine.”
“I’ll deal with it later.”
But later became months.
Months became years.
And now it’s taking its toll.
• Your relationships
• Your self-worth and confidence
• Your emotional and physical wellbeing
• Your work and performance
• Your happiness
• Your opportunities
You already know this…
Ignoring pain doesn’t heal it.
Ignoring problems doesn’t solve them.
It just teaches you how to carry them.
And eventually…
The weight becomes too heavy.
So maybe this isn’t another post.
Maybe this is your moment.
Not next month.
Not next year.
NOW.
To stop avoiding.
To face what needs to be faced.
To change your life’s direction.
We have 1 SPOT LEFT for a man who is ready to stop waiting and start moving.

Letting go...and processing cancer!
A couple of weeks ago we lit our annual bonfire to burn the debris collected throughout the year.
This year, I had something extra to add, that I have been holding onto since July last year.
The mask and paraphernalia from my chemo and radiation treatment.
It has been sitting quietly in the cupboard until then…just reminding me occasionally of its presence.
For those that don’t know, early in 2025 I was diagnosed with a cancer on my left tonsil region and it had grown into my tongue. I had to have 3 chemo & 35 radiation treatments over 7 weeks.
The mask (and the little blue pillow), were moulded around my head and shoulders. The clips enabled the mask to be secured to the treatment table, to ensure I couldn’t move for 6-10 mins, whilst the radiation treatment took place.
So, when we lit the bonfire, this all came out and I watched it burn.
It was a little surreal…like ‘was that really what happened?’
But, I also felt fragile and pensive, almost lost.
I still cant properly put it into works.
I just wanted to close the door on that chapter. But I don’t think it did, at least not at the moment.
There are still parts of me that are confused and emotional.
Why?
Firstly, I know if this was left undetected and the cancer grew substantially, I would have had to have reconstruction surgery into the jaw, tongue and palate. That doesn’t include it going to the lymph nodes. Then there would have been the chemo and radiation on top of that, maybe more, maybe worse.
I know that if COULD have been very life altering, and even life threatening.
But here is where the head plays with you a little…at least mine did (and does) with me.
My prognosis, because of the type of cancer it was, and we caught it reasonable early, was 98% recovery. That is AWESOME to hear…but there are still doubts.
What if I am in the 2%?
What if it comes back?
What if…
As a result of the 98% recovery rate, I feel like a fraud.
“I can’t claim I really had cancer, because I was always going to be alright.”
Even though the 4 weeks in hospital, being tube fed for nearly 3 weeks, having blood transfusing because of infection, throwing up endlessly, losing 17kg (and a lot of me salivary gland function), altered taste, peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage = pain and pins and needles) in the feet and finger tips, let me know that IT WAS A JOUNEY OF SURVIVAL!
Even with all that, a part of me still feels like a fraud.
Then on the flip side, there is a whole other feeling of guilt.
My wife Kim decided to watch a show, which we thought would be uplifting and empowering, which it was to a point, but one of the main characters was diagnosed with cancer. During his treatment he befriended a young girl who was strong, pig-headed, wise, intelligent, generous and a beautiful heart (she was going through treatment as well).
Post treatment, whilst in a drug induced coma, with a fever, the young girl came to visit him, and she passed on some beautiful wisdom. He woke the next morning only to find she had passed 24 hours earlier.
He broke down and said, “Why am I still?”
I broke down and sobbed properly for the first time since my treatment finished.
As I write this, “Why am I still here?”, I have tears running down my cheeks.
I feel guilty…
I know this is “survivor’s guilt” or “survivor’s remorse”.
(I am working through this.)
And maybe that is why, when burning the “paraphernalia”, I felt fragile and lost.
Because, though I am physically improving (I put on 2.5kg – and can still fit into small/medium shirts…yahoo), and my energy is returning…I still have the emotional burden attached to the whole ordeal.
And I have had, and still have friends and family who did, or are going through a whole lot worse than me.
That weight of guilt, and being a fraud is improving…and just writing this has made the load lighter.
I will continue to work on myself, and lean on my family, friends and professionals as needed.
There are 2 lessons I have learned through my journey (over and over again)...
1. It is not the type or size of the trauma or ordeal you go through, it is the impact that it makes on that individual.
Never play down your story, trauma or ordeal.
If it has impacted you emotionally, then it is important, it is worth your attention, and you definitely should face it and deal with it…whether it be big or small.
2. It is so important to have an amazing team around you...that you can reach out to, lean on, learn from and grow. Look around and see who your team is...your partner, family, friends, mentors or professionals...and do you need to add to that team.
Life has bumps...and it will bruise you occasionally.
But with every challenge you have a choice.

Men...This is why we are so f***en stubborn.
What I've written below might be a little jarring...but no apologies today.
I have spent thousands of hours speaking to and supporting men. Put together thousands of posts and videos full of life lessons, positive mindset shifts, practical exercises, and real tools for change.
I was lying in bed the other morning thinking about how I could help more men.
And the honest answer?
I can't! Not unless they're ready.
I keep thinking back to one conversation in particular.
No matter how many times I showed up for this person...listened, offered ideas, gave them exercises and tools...NONE of it mattered. Because they never used them.
And if you don't use the tools, nothing will ever change.
This is the pattern I see again and again:
Reach out → Have a conversation → Acknowledge there's a problem → Start to see there might be a pattern.
Those patterns often look like:
Using alcohol, drugs, or other substances to numb the pain
Withdrawing and shutting down emotionally
Exploding with anger...and not understanding why
Pushing away the people who care most
Self-sabotaging relationships, careers, and opportunities
Chronic people-pleasing to avoid conflict
Isolating completely
Risk-taking or reckless behaviour as an escape
The root causes — usually from childhood:
Loss of a loved one
Physical, emotional, psychological, or sexual abuse
Witnessing or experiencing domestic violence
Neglect or emotional abandonment
Growing up in an environment of shame, fear, or instability
Never being taught how to feel, process, or express emotions
The results:
Low self-worth and confidence
Substance abuse
Depression and/or anxiety
Anger issues or violence
Broken relationships
Chronic loneliness
And then there's the blame.
We won't take responsibility. Instead it becomes:
It's because of what happened to me.
It's because of what they did.
It's the economy.
It's my upbringing.
It's bad luck.
And for some men — it becomes:
It's her fault.
It's work's fault.
It's their fault.
It's your fault.
The blame shifts constantly.
The one place it never lands? With themselves.
I genuinely empathize.
This trauma is deep-rooted...as it's been wired into your nervous system since you were a child. It shapes how you think, how you feel, how you react.
But here's the truth: it is not your identity. (I know - l lived it)
I know how hard it is to carry childhood trauma.
To numb the pain.
To tell yourself everything will be fine while the same patterns destroy the things you love.
But nothing changes until you change what you do.
When challenged, some men respond like this:
"I'm fine, I'll work through it" — but if that were true, you'd already be through it.
"I've got this handled" — yet the same cycles keep repeating.
"You don't know what you're talking about" — anger as armour.
Shuts down completely — and the patterns quietly return.
On the surface it comes out as:
"I'm fine" (said through gritted teeth)
(Mine was "I'm Ok")
The bully
The class clown...always deflecting with humour
The know-it-all
The invisible man...isolated and withdrawn
The overachiever...using success to outrun the pain
The victim...everything happens to him, never because of him
But nothing changes.
In fact, it gets worse.
When we hold onto emotional pain and trauma...it gets heavier.
Think about holding a 500g rock out in front of you, arm fully extended.
Easy for the first minute. After an hour, your arm is failing and it feels like a ton.
Now imagine carrying that emotional weight for 10, 20, 30, 40 years.
You cannot hide from it.
You cannot outrun it.
It will find you.
Men...Hear this:
We are not our trauma or our pain.
We are not our reactions.
We are not our negative behaviour.
We are not our negative thoughts or beliefs.
But...if we don't do something about it...we risk becoming the victim of our own story.
I know, because I did - for 44 years!.
We are stubborn because the fear of facing our own pain is off the scale. 12 out of 10.
The brain and body go into full survival mode.
They genuinely believe that looking at this stuff will kill you.
That stepping toward the "danger" means death.
So we make excuses. We lie to ourselves and to others.
But here's what I need you to hear:
You will not die.
You will not fall apart.
You will not be destroyed.
In fact...the opposite happens.
You get to be free and claim your power back!
So draw a line in the sand.
Stop being stubborn.
Stop making excuses.
Stop hiding behind your mask.
Stop living half a life.
Stop being a victim of your own past.
If you want to change...then change.
Make it happen.
I also know we can't always do it alone.
We need the right tools.
The right support.
A safe space to do the work.
If this has resonated with you...or with someone you know, then please share it.
If you're ready to make a real change, DM me and we'll get you to the next workshop.
It's time to step into your courage, shed the weight of your past, and step into your future.
And remember this — Today's courage shapes your tomorrow.

The Uncomfortable Truth…
Two men.
Two lives.
Two families shattered.
And it has made national headlines.
But here’s the part that doesn’t make the news, that breaks my heart…
This isn’t rare.
This is happening every single day.
In Australia, we’re losing roughly 15 men every two days.
And another 4 women.
That’s nearly 70 families a week getting a phone call that changes their lives forever.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Let’s look at the annual figures (in Australia) approximately:
3460 people take their own live
(This is THREE time higher than the nation road toll)
Approximately 100,000 attempt to take their own lives – every year
(Think of the MCG full on grand final day)
To the families, friends, and colleagues of these two men…
There are no words that fix this.
Only love, strength, and time.
And to the other dozens of families grieving this week, seen or unseen...
You matter.
Your loss matters.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth…
We don’t have a “mental health awareness” problem anymore.
We have a mental health ACTION problem.
We’ve talked about it for years.
Campaigns. Slogans. Posts.
And yet… the numbers are getting worse.
The system is overwhelmed.
Underfunded.
Under-resourced.
Trying to play catch-up in a game that’s speeding up…rapidly
I have thought about this long and hard for many years…
So, maybe it’s time we stop trying to patch the problem…
…and start building something better from the ground up.
What if we actually taught this stuff early?
Not just the 3 R’s…
But real life education:
How to understand your emotions
How to sit with discomfort instead of burying it
How to breathe when your mind is racing
How to journal your thoughts instead of carrying them
How to ask for help without shame
What if kids grew up knowing:
Struggling is normal
Talking is strength
Emotions aren’t weakness…they are in fact, actually signals to FEEL & LISTEN to!
We may have missed generations…
But we don’t have to miss the next one.
This is bigger than individuals.
This is Government. Education. Community. Culture.
We HAVE TO SHIFT THE NARRATIVE…and BACK IT WITH ACTION.
Let’s make our next generation emotionally aware, emotionally educated, and resilient.
And to the men reading this…
I want you to HEAR this…
Stop trying to carry it all on your own.
That mindset of:
“I’ve got this”, or
“I’ll be ok”…
It’s not strength when it’s slowly breaking you from the inside out.
People can see it.
You can FEEL it.
And if you don’t change it, it may totally break you like it does to so many others every single day!
PLEASE…Take a step.
Talk to someone:
A mate.
A GP.
A psychologist.
Or step into something different…a space where men actually do the work, together.
And if you’ve got no one…
Reach out.
I mean that.
After 30 years of depression, trauma, and fighting my own battles…
I’ve lived it.
I’ve come out the other side.
And believe me when I say, being on the other side of the emotional “sh*t” we are carrying around is SO FRIGGEN WORTH IT.
Life can be amazing…you just have to take a step.
Step into your courage.
And remember…You don’t have to do it alone.
We can do better.
We must do better...for our families, for our communities.
Not tomorrow.
Now.

"The SECOND STEP is the HARDEST"
People say the first step is the hardest...I say the second step IS the hardest.
Bear with me - I will show you why.
8 years ago, someone asked me how I was doing.
I said "fine."
I wasn't fine.
I was lost.
Depressed.
Exhausted.
Carrying 44 years of emotional baggage I'd never dealt with...my shame, guilt, self-blame, embarrassment, and a fear so deep I couldn't even name it.
Fear of facing it. Fear of dealing with it. Fear of what others may say when they "found out the truth". Fear of what I might find if I actually stopped pretending.
I was doing it all alone.
Running a business (with my wife Kim - which did help).
Managing my mental health.
Holding relationships together.
Trying to "be happy"...whilst dragging around an emotional backpack that got heavier every single day.
Sound familiar?
Last week, someone asked me if I needed support to help me transition through my next phase of life.
I said no.
Not because I was pretending this time.
But because I already had my foundation in place.
People around me who support different areas of my life...mental wellbeing, emotional support, professional growth, relationship advice, business infrastructure.
A structure I've spent 8 years deliberately building...layer by layer, lesson by lesson, person by person.
I didn't have that at 50.
I have it at 58.
Here's what changed everything.
I stopped running.
I faced what I'd been avoiding for decades.
And on the other side of that fear...there was an energy surge that has lasted 8 years (and continues to this day).
That energy gave me the tools.
The tools built the structure.
The structure became the foundation.
And that foundation is what carried me through throat cancer last year. (Yes — throat cancer. When people ask what kind of cancer it was, I tell them "ironic cancer." Because I'm a public speaker. Make of that what you will.)
There were hard days. Really hard days. But mentally and emotionally, I handled it better than I ever could have without the work I'd done on myself.
If it happened at 50, I would have been an emotional mess with the attitude - "why me, what else do I deserve" sort of attitude.
Because life will keep throwing things at you.
Job loss.
Losing someone you love.
Relationship breakdown.
Health scares.
Financial pressure.
It doesn't stop.
It doesn't care how busy you are.
The question isn't whether the challenge will come.
The question is...
"What's your foundation like when it does?"
Are you someone who has a strong support network, clear structures, and the tools to face what comes?
Or are you still doing it alone...crumbling, withdrawing, blaming, shutting down...hoping it will pass, hoping it will change, but feeling the backpack get heavier with every year?
I was the second one...for 30 years.
Nothing changed until I took the SECOND step.
The FIRST step was AWARENESS, and becoming aware of just what, how and where I was struggling in my life.
(I was always aware deep down - just the fear stopped me from looking deep into that awareness.)
But, the hardest step was NOT the first one.
It was the second one....because that one required ACTION.
Making the call.
Having the conversation.
Walking into a room and admitting I needed help.
If you're carrying something you've never faced, I'm not going to tell you it's easy.
I'm going to tell you it's WORTH it.
If I can overcome 30 years of depression, low self-worth, and feeling like a fraud, then so can you.
The next moMENtum Revolution workshop is coming, 3 days, live in.
If you want to know where you're at, or what the workshop looks like, PM me. We'll have a real conversation about your situation and your next step forward.

Last week I had the privilege of speaking at Santa Maria College to the Men of Santa…which is the student’s dads.
It wasn’t a keynote this time!
It was a real conversation, a Q&A alongside the wonderful Margo Bastow (Director of Community Relations)…where we didn’t just talk about life, we pulled it apart a bit.
Some of the questions we explored and I shared from included:
• What does strength actually look like, and how has that changed over time?
• The idea of the “ManMask”…and when it starts costing us more than it protects us
• What carrying unprocessed pain really does to our relationships
• What happens when life (or cancer) strips away your sense of control
• And the one thing men consistently underestimate, their influence at home
There was no hiding.
There were a few tears, and also a few laughs (because if you don’t laugh, it gets heavy real quick).
But what stood out most?
The honesty in the room.
The great questions – their interactions.
Blokes opening up.
The connection.
Sharing parts of their story with me.
Realising they’re not the only one carrying things they’ve never said out loud.
That’s where the shift happens.
Because most men don’t need another podcast, book, or strategy…
They need space.
They need permission.
They need real conversations like this.
And when that happens...even for an hour...something changes.
Grateful for the opportunity.
Grateful for the men who leaned in.
Grateful for the conversations that actually matter.
And we need MUCH more of this.
And remember…Today’s Courage Shapes Your Tomorrow!

Leadership is easy...when everything is running smoothly.
Leadership is easy…until pressure mounts and the proverbial hits the fan.
Deadlines stack.
Breakdowns occur.
Communication lines are broken.
Emotions rise.
Decisions carry weight.
And suddenly, what seemed simple and easy… starts to shift.
Because leadership isn’t tested in calm waters and safe environments.
It’s tested when the storm hits, when things are uncertain, uncomfortable, and moving fast.
Leaders don’t stumble because they don’t know what to do.
They stumble because pressure changes how they behave.
As a business owner and former Police Officer and Detective, I’ve seen this firsthand. In high-pressure situations, including knife wielding offenders, violent domestic disputes, firearm incidents, even a siege. There’s no time to think your way through it.
You rely on what’s been ingrained.
Your patterns.
And while business may not be life or death…leadership can absolutely determine the life or death of a business, or the culture within it.
When pressure hits, leaders don’t rise to their training.
They default to their patterns.
And those patterns are built over time:
• Childhood values, beliefs, and experiences
• Early career environments
• How they were led
• What behaviours were rewarded
• Past leadership role models (good or bad)
• Unresolved emotional experiences under pressure
• Reinforced behaviours that were never challenged
• Environments that reward urgency over thinking
And this is where it becomes visible.
When patterns are strong, leadership can look consistent.
Clear. Calm. Decisive. Measured.
But when patterns are weak or misaligned…leadership can start to fracture.
• Words and actions become incongruent
• Decisions become rushed or avoided
• Emotions override judgement
• Difficult conversations are avoided
• Control increases
• Trust decreases
• Standards shift depending on the situation
When leaders default to negative patterns…trust drops immediately.
Safety narrows.
Ownership fades.
Culture begins to erode.
When pressure builds, this is where thinking can begin to change. All of a sudden:
SPEED replaces ACCURACY.
REACTION replaces INTENTION.
It’s important to understand…
Knowledge isn’t the problem.
Execution under pressure is.
Because the real test of leadership isn’t what you know…
It’s how you behave when things are uncomfortable.
You see it when:
• Deadlines stack
• Emotions rise
• Decisions carry consequence
• Information is incomplete
• There is no clear right answer
• People are watching how you respond
• Mistakes have already been made
This is the hidden gap.
Misalignment.
When a leader’s values, emotions, and actions don’t line up under pressure, even strong leaders can shift:
• Strong communicators become avoidant or even silent
• Collaborative leaders become controlling
• Calm leaders become reactive or emotional
Looking at the big picture to put the pieces together, what is often missing?
• Emotional regulation
• Internal awareness
• Decision clarity in ambiguity
• Behavioural consistency
• Integrity under stress
This is so important to an organisation:
If behaviour changes under pressure…performance will never be stable.
And the organisations that outperform don’t have better people…they have more aligned leaders.
Leadership doesn’t break under pressure…it gets exposed.
And what gets exposed is what actually drives your culture, performance, and results.
So, the question isn’t:
“What do my leaders know?”
The question is:
“Who do they become when it counts?”
Because consistency is what organisations are really paying for.
If you want better outcomes in your organisation, don’t just develop capability.
Develop alignment.
Develop consistency within that alignment.
If this resonates, it’s worth asking:
“Where are your leaders most likely to default under pressure…and what is that already costing your organisation?”
This is exactly the gap we unpack through the ELEVAtum IEQ framework.
And remember…Today’s Courage Shapes Your Tomorrow!

Sometimes it just needs the right moment, the right space and the courage to face what’s been buried.
If you see yourself in this story, know this.
You’re not alone.
And your next chapter might be closer than you think.
Rob, we are incredibly proud of you.
Three years sober.
130km walked.
A life rebuilt.
Well done mate.
If you want the opportunity to change your life's direction, or just want to reclaim that inner strength that has been lost for a while, then consider coming to the next moMENtum Workshop.

Today, my wife, Kim and I, are heading to a Luncheon/Function at OPTUS Oval for International Woman's Day.
It is to celebrate and acknowledge the women in our community. And I can't think of a better person to celebrate and acknowledge, than Kim.
After nearly 18 years of marriage I love, admire and respect her more than I ever have...which is not something that I thought was possible... ...and the reason for that, the challenges we have faced together, especially over the past 12 months.
On our wedding day, in our vows, we promised to have lots of adventures, both big and small. And we have done just that.
We moved to Carnarvon and started a Chiropractic business from scratch (without really knowing what we were doing).
We bought a boat and had lots of little fishing and camping adventures.
We then moved to, and bought the Pinjarra Chiropractic Clinic and run that together (well mostly she runs it. I am the up front talent, but she is the REAL TALENT that keeps the wheels moving behind the scenes.)
She supports all my crazy ideas and passions (well most of them).
We have travelled the world together.
We get to enjoy time with our family and friends.
And I get to make her laugh (which is one of my favourite "little" adventures).
We never argue (maybe 1-2 times) – yes, we have disagreements - but never had a full blown fight.
Forgiveness, acceptance, patience, communication, respect and LOVE have always been at the core of our relationship...
So yes, I feel we have been blessed to have each other in our lives.
And then last year things went to a different level.
Almost 12 months ago (to the week) - I was diagnosed with cancer.
There were lots of ups and downs.
There were fears, tears, and lots to intake and negotiate along that journey.
But one thing remained constant...Kim.
Her Courage.
Her Patience.
Her Strength.
Her Love.
I remember very clearly, one day we were driving to a treatment - and I apologised (again) for putting her through it all - for the 100th time.
She just looked at me and simply said,
"You're my person. I will always be here for you." (Tears welled)
During it all, Kim was a soft place for me to lay, and called me out when needed.
She held my hand during some of the most challenging moments of my life.
She lay next to me when I was in hospital - and I was home.
She never waivered.
She is my rock.
She is the love of my life.
Without trying, just by being her - she bought us closer.
And, like I said...I respect, admire and love her more than I ever have...which I honestly never thought was possible.
Kim is the glue, the voice of reason, the strength, the inspiration, the love...and is the person who has allowed me to become the man I am today.
On Sunday it was International Women’s Day – and all week, including the luncheon today, is about celebrating the amazing women throughout our communities…
But Kim, let me tell you, I CELEBRATE YOU EVERY DAY!

Who is the Woman you want to honour today?
You didn’t wake up one day struggling.
It happened slowly.
More responsibility.
More pressure.
Less time.
Less space.
Less you.
You’re still showing up.
Still providing.
Still performing.
But something feels off.
Not wrong.
Just not aligned.
And that quiet feeling?
That’s not weakness.
That’s the man you were
waiting.
Soon I’ll be sharing more about the moMENtum Men’s Workshop.
A small, private 2.5-day experience held in nature for men who want to step away from the noise and reconnect with themselves.
Only 8 men will attend.
Confidential.
Respectful.
Real.
Details coming soon.

Everything I’ve built over the last eight years has been about one thing.
Helping people rise.
Individually.
Relationally.
Professionally.
Until now, those pieces lived separately.
moMENtum.
WOMENtum.
Speaking.
Workshops.
Corporate leadership.
Now they come together.
ELEVAtum.
Not as another program.
As architecture.
Leadership built on integrity.
Resilience under pressure.
Culture by design.
Because the truth is simple.
You cannot build strong organisations with broken leaders.
You cannot build strong cultures with exhausted people.
You cannot build sustainable success without alignment.
ELEVAtum is the corporate expression of the same journey I walked personally.
Integrity.
Empowerment.
Questions that unlock truth.
Resilience that sustains performance.
Culture that is intentional, not accidental.
This rebrand is not cosmetic.
It is clarity.
Brett Dellar at the centre.
ELEVAtum for organisations.
moMENtum for men.
WOMENtum for women.
Speaking.
Podcast.
One ecosystem.
One philosophy.
One direction.
Always remember...
Today’s Courage Shapes Your Tomorrow.
And we are only just getting started.

Everything you see today started with a man in pain.
This Wasn’t a Career Move.
It Was Survival.
This is my story.
Eight years ago, none of this was part of a plan.
There was no strategy.
No five-year vision.
No rebrand in mind.
It started for one reason.
I was in pain.
For 44 years I carried childhood trauma.
For 30 of those, it showed up as depression.
And most people had no idea.
I was high-functioning.
Successful chiropractor.
Helping people every day.
Smiling. Performing. Achieving.
But every night I was exhausted.
Not from work.
From pretending I was “OK.”
I wore what I now call the ManMask.
Strong. Capable. Fine.
While inside I felt like a boy in a man’s body.
I knew I was a good person.
I knew I was a good chiropractor.
But I didn’t feel it.
And that gap slowly eats you alive.
Then I faced the childhood trauma.
And something shifted.
I realised my trauma wasn’t who I was.
It was something that happened to me.
For the first time in my life, I felt real love for myself.
As a person.
As a man…and I wept uncontrollably.
But once the trauma story loosened its grip… something unexpected happened.
There was space…A hole.
If I wasn’t “the traumatised one”… then who was I?
For 18 months I studied.
Workshops.
Programs.
Books.
Coaches.
Hard conversations.
Hard truths.
I invested more money and time into myself than I can count.
Layer by layer, things started to fall away:
The trauma.
The expectations.
The negative internal voices.
The societal pressure.
The mistakes I’d dragged around.
The BS that was never mine to carry.
And underneath all of that…
I found me.
Happy.
Loving.
Passionate.
Compassionate.
Fun. (Debatable according to my wife.)
Energetic.
Authentic.
Integral.
Vulnerable.
Courageous.
Strong.
Eight years ago, I could not have said those words about myself.
Today, I can.
And here’s what that journey led me to:
I don’t want anyone to carry their pain longer than they have to. (Like I did – way too long)
There are answers.
There are tools.
There is another way.
That’s why I became a coach.
That’s why I ran workshops.
That’s why I trained as a speaker.
That’s why I now work with organisations — because organisations are made up of people carrying invisible weight.
This wasn’t the path I chose.
This is the path that chose me.
My childhood trauma.
A broken heart.
A life-threatening incident as a police officer.
Cancer.
None of it defined me.
But all of it shaped me.
And from that… moMENtum and WOMENtum were born.
And now…
It’s time for the next chapter.
Tomorrow, I’ll share what its about and what ties it all together.
One word.
ELEVAtum.

Yesterday I said something BIG was about to change.
Here it is.
Not who I am.
Not what I stand for.
Not why I do this work.
But how everything now connects.
For years, I’ve built:
Momentum Revolution
WOMENtum
And now — ELEVAtum.
Leadership.
Resilience.
Culture.
Growth.
Today, it all sits clearly under one aligned banner:
Brett Dellar.
One mission.
Multiple movements.
Clear direction.
This is refocus.
This is strategic alignment.
This is laser clarity.
Because growth demands clarity.
And clarity demands courage.
Massive thanks to Natasha at TELLING DESIGNS for helping bring structure and identity to what’s been building for years.
This is the Turning Point.
Now we build forward — together. Stronger. Sharper. Unified.
Over the coming months, you’ll start to see the evolution roll out across platforms and programs.
We appreciate your patience as we transition, every step is intentional, and it’s all designed to serve you at a higher level.
