@MattDoyle76 He still has the flashes of greatness and is usually still a top shot stopper. But positioning, command of box, and distribution errors have been more regular now. The goals against numbers are more a product of defense and play style rather than elite goalkeeping

@stuholden @TaylorTwellman To be fair, the highest Fifa ranked (I know not the best but it’s what we got) team he has beaten in that run was Denmark at 10th in Euro 2020, which required extra time. With a team that was ranked 4th.

The US also generally beats teams worse than them

@mlsstat He could change a lot about the effectiveness of the system. It’s a dangerous game banking on a guy who has barely played in the team to come back and have that impact, but the flashes of him pre-injury at least make that a possibility

@mlsstat Nouhou in this system is part of the issue tho. Your LM isn’t in space because Nouhou isn’t a forward threat and the RB can play 1-v-1 on Morris. Their RM can focus infield and congest the middle/shift coverage. Combine Cristian at below-standard play for him and space is limited

@JeremiahOshan Yep. And I think the stats I’ve seen support that. It hasn’t impacted my viewing pleasure measurably though but I could see where players could be frustrated by that as it contributes to the game flow like you mentioned

@JeremiahOshan Latter is absolutely true. Game flow hasn’t been the same and decisions aren’t as clear/are more surprising when they happen.
I haven’t noticed significantly more major mistakes (maybe more VAR but if calls are right 🤷🏼‍♂️). Overall I’ve been pleasantly surprised it’s not been worse
