Reasons you should appreciate Mario Kart Tour:
- it’s the whole reason we even got the Booster Course Pass DLC in 8 Deluxe, which itself gave us a new course type, being “route-changing” courses
- it gave us some of the most unique remakes we’ve seen of some tracks, some of which were in the BCP and some that were not
- it, of course, has an awesome soundtrack
- it did things that were unique to the series and formed its own identity (frenzies, combos, rarities, track specific drivers/karts/gliders, leveling up drivers/karts/gliders, selectable balloons for Battle mode)
- it has its own unique style of Battle Mode, being elimination style, where the eliminated players get to be on a platform that hovers around the track and allows them to still throw items
- it’s the only game so far to have its own unique theme for its nitro tracks, mostly being cities
- it also gave us some unique non-city themed courses, and some of the most interesting ones, especially Ninja Hideaway, Squeaky Clean Sprint, and Yoshi’s Island
- counting variants, it has the biggest character roster in the series, and the most amount of karts and gliders
- it has the most tracks of any game not counting Mario Kart World’s intermissions, but even with those it still does if you count Tour’s T, R, and R/T variants.
- it brought back special items for the first time since Double Dash, even bringing back some of the same items
- it brought back half-pipes for the first time since Wii
- some of its smaller features made it into Mario Kart World, such as automatically holding out items, tricking off almost anything, badges (now changed to the stickers, with some stickers even coming from some of the badges), challenges (the idea revised and turned into P-Switch missions), and even the concept of costumes (and some costumes were even pulled straight from this game or based off of ones in Tour)
- it set the perfect bridge between Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart World, playing like the last couple games but still evolving the series forward some more
- it was completely free, with NO ads, a rarity for mobile games
- it eventually removed gacha as the primary way to get new stuff, and only made the gacha stuff more minor and secondary, making it more fair and fun for everyone
- most importantly, it has a dedicated fanbase of players who love it and stuck with it during its time, and will never forget it ❤️
Mickey is a reminder to be NICE this summer. She lived some of her last days getting HATE on by people online while playing a GAME. We’re all human. She was human. The houseguest this summer are human too
