Welcome to the world, little one. 🐘🐘

We’re proud to introduce our newest elephant calf, Pnut.He was born earlier this month after a gestation of nearly 22 months, weighing 238 pounds. He stood and began nursing within his first hour of life. Mom and baby are both doing well and are under the close care of our elephant and veterinary teams.

Right now, Pnut is doing what newborn calves do best: staying close to mom, finding his feet, and getting to know his herd. You may notice a small peanut-shaped mark on his left ear, a detail our keepers spotted right away.

He will stay off public view for a little while longer so he can bond and gain strength. We’ll share updates as he grows and let you know when guests will be able to see him.

Our Dromedary camel resident Frankie receives regular checks and trims of his feet! As keeper Eric describes, camels don't have hooves like our Grevy's zebra or giraffe, but the pads of their feet need similar maintenance to ensure Frankie's comfort.

Meet Dolly!

Brevard Zoo is thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy female pygmy hippo calf. In honor of Dolly Parton’s passing and her legacy of joy, generosity, and sparkle, we’ve named her Dolly.

Mom and calf are bonding privately for now. We’ll share when guests can meet our newest little star.

Every successful birth of this endangered species is a hopeful moment, and Dolly already has the bigger-than-life personality to match her name.
