Since Craig Counsell removed Hayden Wesneski with 90 pitches in the 7th, the #Brewers have
- 4 hits
- 4 stolen bases
- 3 runs scored
Milwaukee leads 3-1 heading to the bottom of the 8th.
The best catcher in baseball plays for the Milwaukee Brewers.
William Contreras leads all catchers in fWAR since the beginning of last season.
Today’s home run lifted his 2024 BA to .357 and OPS to .995.
Christian Yelich since 5/7/23 (118 games):
.294 BA, .386 OBP, 18 HR, 86 R, 25 SB.
The only other player in the MLB to achieve these stats since the same date: Ronald Acuña Jr.
The #Brewers saved 15.63 million dollars by trading Corbin Burnes.
Since, they’ve added roughly 15.44 million dollars to the 2024 payroll.
D.L. Hall - $720k
Joey Ortiz - $720k
Jacob Junis - $7M
Gary Sánchez - $7M
Mark Attanasio reinvested the $$$ into this team! (I’m shocked)
@dreamittobe All of the players I mentioned in the 2nd tweet were studs as rookies.
It would be idiotic to say he had nothing to do with their achievements, but they were clearly gonna be special regardless of who was managing them.
Since Craig Counsell became manager in 2015, #Brewers players have achieved:
24 All-Star selections
1 MVP Award
1 Cy Young Award
4 Reliever of the Year Awards
Even with all these achievements, Counsell only won 1 playoff series. He is 1-9 in his last 10 playoff games.
The idea Counsell’s job will be easier with the high-payroll #Cubs is laughable.
In 2016, Counsell inherited the #1 farm system in the MLB. This became Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Hader, Williams and effectively Yelich.
He has always managed a ultra-talented team.
The #Brewers now have 5 players ranked in @MLBPipeline’s top 100 prospects list.
Only 2 teams have more. (BAL and LAD)
This is even with players like Wiemer, Mitchell, and Turang graduating this season.
#Brewers Jacob Misiorowski was the most impressive player at this years #FuturesGame.
He struck out the side in his lone inning and threw the 11 fastest pitches of the game, topping out at 102.4 MPH. 🔥
Over his last 32 games, Christian Yelich has 38 hits, 25 walks, and 28 runs scored.
Only other times this has occurred in #Brewers history:
Christian Yelich (2018)
Paul Molitor (1987)
An underrated player in this incredible comeback…
Julio Teheran.
He struggled and was unlucky early, but still managed to give Milwaukee 6 IP and retired 10 of the last 11 cubs batters.
Since June, Christian Yelich ranks top 10 among NL outfielders in:
WAR, BA, OBP, OPS, H, BB%, 2B, 3B, R, SB, HardHit %, wRC, wRAA, wOBA, DRS.
Seems like a worthy #AllStar reserve if you ask me…
