Year 9 Book Club are currently reading The Gilded Ones by @NaminaForna and we're loving the novel so far! Today we discussed family, violence, gender and race as well as Deka's journey so far. Looking forward to finishing the novel for our next meeting in 2 weeks!

This lunch the English dept hosted the first creative writing workshop to support students thinking of entering @PearsonSchools #MyTwistOnATale writing competition. There were some excellent ideas and thoughtful consideration of the #Represent theme shown by students. 🖊

Y8 Book Club are half way through Cane Warriors by @brixtonbard. This lunchtime we discussed slavery, gender and why writing in dialect was a vital choice. The pupils were also able to make lots of links to their work from History. It's a powerful read and one we're all enjoying.
