During a classroom lesson today…Me: I am your school counselor! What does that mean? Student: It means that you love us and help us when we need it. #Nailedit
Pride Month is about uplifting joy, centering celebration and honoring its origins of protest. We wish a happy Pride to all queer educators, students and communities—and we will continue to demand LGBTQ-inclusive spaces year-round.
Today, I am directing every state to prioritize educators for vaccination. We want every educator, school staff member, and child-care worker to receive at least one shot by the end of this month.
It’s time to treat in-person learning like the essential service that it is.
#ReadAcrossAmerica Day is next week. Many schools still spend the week centering Dr. Seuss. But it's important for educators to understand and discuss his history of racist caricatures—and think about the message sent when he's celebrated uncritically.

I’m so not into policing the way student’s come to class. Wanna attend from your bed? Cool. In your car in the Target parking lot? Great. Wrapped up in a Sesame Street comforter? Stay warm.
Listen I’m just happy you showed up.
