I've struggled to get this out, but like many affected by Charlie Kirk's murder, I have to.

If you are someone who thinks it is okay for a man to be
murdered for speaking his mind, who engaged
peacefully with people from all walks of life, having
discourse and debate with fellow Americans, then you
are part of the problem.

If there's wiggle room to murder your countrymen for
using their First Amendment rights, then you've lost the
pulse of this nation.

There's a massive lineup of commentators, politicians,
and mouth breathers online whom I despise and
vehemently disagree with. In no world would I hope to
see them killed for speaking their minds. That's
insanity. That's chaos. That's bullshit.

Fired? Sure. Shamed? Okay. Apologize? Fine.

Murdered? Never, under any circumstances.

We are all living in this world together, like it or not, and
speaking our minds and challenging others with
thoughtful debate is not worth a bullet. It's how we
progress. It's how we unite. It's how this fucking
country was founded, for God's sake.

And there is no moral equivalency of Kirk's murder to
what's happening around the world. Just because he
commented on these things, like ALL political
commentators do (I.E. doing their job), does not mean
he somehow "asked" for this.

I highly doubt anyone who felt he spread "hate" ever
actually watched a video of him debating with people.
They just ate what was fed to them about him.

You want to know why there's so much outrage, if for
some reason you can't comprehend it? Because this
was the assassination of an idea as much as a person.
The idea that you can speak freely and not fear a
sniper's bullet ripping through you.

A person of absolute privilege who had the whole world
ahead of him found himself radicalized enough to take
the life of someone they disagreed with. The WHY of
his radicalization is what we should be seeking. That is
the root of this new pandemic of hatred, which
continues to spread.

And those who enabled it, pushed for it, assisted in it? They knew exactly what they were doing.

The target. The location. The people in attendance. Students. Family. Children.

It was a message. Speak your mind and we'll kill you for it. Violently. Publicly. Horribly.

And just when we thought there would be unity as a result, it was the opposite.

There was celebration. Mockery. Hate. Pride. Shameless and on full display, one post after another.

The shooter and those behind him and everyone who
supports them want us afraid. They want us to
cower. They want us to bow down. They want us to
believe that there are more of them than there are of us.

They want our compliance with the consequence of
death.

Is that the world you want to live in? I don't.

I've lived my life fighting for my rights, and quite literally for a decade. And I won't stop now.

Freedom of Speech doesn't mean freedom from
consequences, but the line for those consequences
does not cross over into cold-blooded murder.

In the clearest sense, the moment words no longer
work and violence takes their place is the birth of war.
And historically, every war, no matter how it’s dressed
up in politics or patriotism, begins when people stop
listening and start forcing.

It is my greatest hope that peace can be found and that
we can find a way forward. We have before, and I believe we can again. I believe in the goodness of humanity, even in times like this.

I believe there is more good than bad.

But I'm not naive. I've seen firsthand the horrific things
humans can do to each other. And now I see those
same things happening on my home soil. It's
disheartening to say the least.

Trust me, this isn't where we want to go, and we're
halfway down that hallway.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea. And the
idea, the concept, the right of free speech and
expression is paramount to our lives, to our very existence.

You can't stop it with a bullet.

Charlie Kirk was taken from this world. In his place will
be a million more. I see it galvanizing already.

We've reached our threshold.

This is a tipping point that won't soon be forgotten.

Choose your side of history wisely.

To note: I'm not Charlie Kirk. He was better and braver
than me. I'm not here to debate this. This is my line in
the sand. If that's a problem, you can exercise your
ability to block me across all your chronically online
platforms. I've already dismissed many who have
brought no value to my feed, and I'm sure more will
follow. You're free to do the same with me if I don't get
to you first.
