@ohiogop So…the @ohiogop already has nothing of substance to give Ohio’s citizens, with months to go until the election? Yep—that’s gonna sell well to independent voters. Thanks for giving us such an early “heads up”. Much appreciated!
Vivek: yes or no—IF you are elected Governor, will you require that your Republican super-majority in both the State House & State Senate approve budgets that include a return to the former funding formula for the Local Government Fund? Yes or no? See, you don’t get to rant unaccountably like this AND be “anti-tax”, and then pull the rug out from Ohio’s counties, cities, villages, & townships who are responsible for providing the very law enforcement (and Fire, and EMS) services that you say need to be “restored”. That takes $$$, which YOUR party took away from those political jurisdictions. So…yes or no, Vivek? Lots of independent voters await your answer.
Respectfully disagree in this specific case. Normally, I might agree—Senate candidates should say they would accept or reject a President’s judicial nominees based on experience & merit. However, this is President Trump we’re talking about…I’ve seen very little to suggest that his judicial OR cabinet nominees pass muster for important jobs paid for by we, the taxpayers.
@SundaeDivine “Is he a criminal, a liar and a cheat? Yes.” Period. That’s all that matters. Even if he has “found Jesus”, Paxton has no credibility or business being a U. S. Senator & collecting a taxpayer-funded salary.
@stacey_hauff@electionsjoe But seriously…how does a Governor void a legal election 10 days after it’s been held & get away with it? I don’t care that it’s Alabama…this is still the United States and that should mean something.
Here’s what MAGA doesn’t want to hear or believe, but the fact is: BOTH Talarico AND Crockett EACH received more votes in their primary election than Paxton received in his rin-off against Cornyn. That’s the extent of Paxton’s true support. You read it here first— if the Dems stay united, combined with independents who are completely soured on Trump & MAGA & GOP crossover votes (which will absolutely occur), Paxton doesn’t even break 45% in November. Good riddance!
@ScottJenningsKY Scott—look at the votes, dude. Look at the votes. BOTH Talarico and Crockett EACH received more votes in their primary than Paxton did in his runoff. CROCKETT got more votes! And that doesn’t include independents, who you know aren’t gonna break for Paxton. Talarico is fine.
Trump was acquitted by the USSenate, too…but public opinion still doesn’t feel the same way, which contributes to Trump’s ratings being at historically low levels. The facts of the impeachment still matter more than political manouvrring. We’ll see how Paxton fares with independents.
@SecScottBessent You CAN oppose a “toll” on international waters with success…but you CANNOT oppose a port fee. This is a case where our President & his administration got caught playing checkers instead of chess. They completely lost sight of the prize. So sad.
EXACTLY!!! I get it—I’m just a few years from retirement age myself. But these types of taxes are often to pay for important community services that even (especially?) senior citizens rely on…like police, EMS & fire protection in smaller cities & townships. Want to give them a break? Fine. But there are other ways than an elimination of this funding source.
Do you know how many votes Paxton received in the runoff election? FEWER than BOTH Talarico AND Crockett each received in their primary race against each other. That’s how many Democrats voted in Texas vs. how many Republicans voted in the runoff. That shows you how thin Paxton’s support is. And your comment? Clear evidence that the GOP & MAGA know they’re on the ropes in this race. As they say: when ya got nothing else, go low.
