We found documents that showed child welfare investigators were concerned that removals were plummeting while the state made it harder to get families into services, where they could be monitored for safety.

1 out of 5 of those deaths occurred in families that already been investigated 3 times
1 out of 4 occurred in families (like this one) investigaed within the year
A 2021 law change pushed down removals

An analysis of those fatalities revealed a child welfare system so intent on reducing its contact with troubled families that it frequently left children in dangerous households even as it sharply reduced the family services that might have kept them safe.

Billionaire Elon Musk gave what appeared to be a fascist salute Monday while making a speech at the post-inauguration celebration for President Donald Trump at the Capital One Arena.

“Some elections are important, some are not. But this one, this one really mattered and I just want to say thank you for making it happen,” Musk said before putting his hand on his chest and then raising it in a salute that appeared similar to the “Sieg Heil” used by Nazis at their victory rallies.

“It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured," Musk said.

Trump named Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the "Department of Government Efficiency," an outside commission aimed at identifying federal programs and spending to cut. After Trump was sworn in, multiple lawsuits were filed against the Trump administration claiming that the move violates federal transparency laws.
