In November last year the Hunt Saboteurs Association shared exclusive and shocking footage of the Coniston Foxhounds digging a terrified fox from its earth, before dragging out the poor animal and feeding it live to a pack of baying foxhounds in what can only have been an excruciating fate.

The footage was obtained by Lake District Hunt Saboteurs and shows exactly why a full ban on hunting is needed now. The consultation into banning 'trail hunting' closes on Thursday 18th of June and it is vital that you have your say. We can end this together; we can end this for foxes such as this one who were subjected to a cruel and terrifying fate.

On Thursday 4th June, Phillip Kennedy (kennel huntsman of the Stowe Beagles – the hunt of the prestigious Buckinghamshire boarding school) pleaded guilty in court to illegal hunting after drone footage showed the pack killing a hare and hunt members – including schoolboys gloating afterwards.

Not only does it show that beagle packs are still brazenly and proudly hunting and killing hares despite the practice being banned for over 20 years, but also that schools and colleges are partaking in and organising such abhorrent activities.

On Thursday 11th of June both the huntsman and whipper in for the Albrighton & Woodland Hunt appeared in court on assault charges after they launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on a member of Shropshire Wildlife Monitors in 2024. The pair initially appeared in court on the 18th of March 2025 where whipper in Phillipa Ward, who has a history of assaulting sabs, pleaded guilty, while convicted huntsman Paul Larby pleaded not guilty.

Paul Larby, who was defended by the usual blood sports solicitor Stephen Welford, was found guilty by magistrates and was ordered to pay £2067 in court costs and compensation. While Ward was ordered to pay £1001.

We are now in the final few days of the consultation into banning ‘trail hunting’ and despite hunts professing their innocence they are continuing to rack up convictions for hunting offences and violence. As well as the recent conviction of the huntsman from the Stowe Beagles for killing a hare, the Albrighton & Woodland Hunt’s huntsman and whipper in have both received sentences for extreme violence against a hunt monitor.

With only a few days to go until the Government’s consultation on banning so-called ‘trail hunting’ closes (link in comments), hunters are doing a great job of showing the public the truth behind their smokescreen - this time the damning evidence coming from a private school’s illegal hare hunt.

Beagle packs are still brazenly and proudly hunting and killing hares, despite it being banned for over 20 years. Equally as disgusting is that students are being indoctrinated into this world of organised crime. There has long been safeguarding concerns around exposing children to animal cruelty, but these establishments are openly facilitating and organising it.

In 2023 Guy Fitzearle, the then Kimblewick Hunt huntsman savagely beat a hound in front of field riders. Reports from East Herts Hunt Sabs detailed the savage violence used by Fitzearle as the hound screamed and howled.

If hunts are prepared to treat their hounds like this in public, then what are they capable of inflicting behind closed doors. Hounds and horses are also victims in the continual cycle of animal abuse inflicted by hunts.

All of these animals need us to speak up for them, and you can be their voice. To end this cycle of abuse it is vitally important that you complete the government consultation into banning 'trail hunting.' Those who enjoy seeing animals suffer will be completing it and that is why we need as many voices as possible to come together.

In what other sphere of life would an adult - employed by a school - be allowed to take students out to commit crime??
