We are going to see a lot of this: people using the referendum campaign to promote their own agendas; campaigning for a "united Canada" on the basis that their preferred remedies for "addressing separatist concerns" are adopted. And if they are not?
The premise of all of this "pro-Canada" campaigning (see also: Danielle Smith) is that Canada has to prove itself to be worthy of saving -- that one of the most successful countries in the history of the world has to beg for the right to exist. That may be many things but it's not pro-Canada.

@Stevecoady416 Yes. And (unfortunately) that requires U.S. TV deals. And that requires the earlier season start. And a field that fits in more than 7 stadia. I'm not a fan of all the changes (esp the rouge), but Johnson IS focused on increasing revenue via media. And we need it.
Exactly right.
Much of the recent separatist tub thumping is driven by grifters who have replicated the MAGA business model, i.e. the monetization of anger.
Itโs not about building or improving things.
Itโs not about getting pipelines done (obviously: landlocked status is the ultimate barrier to pipelines.)
Itโs not about fully exercising Albertaโs autonomy. If that was their focus, theyโd be campaigning for an Alberta police service and pension plan.
Itโs not about making Alberta more prosperous: separation would drive out people and investment while adding tens of $ billions in new costs, while ending all of our trade agreements.
And itโs not about getting more leverage with Ottawa, because when the vast majority of Albertans vote to stay in Canada, separatism will once again be revealed to be an empty, albeit disruptive, threat.
@Wrestle_Paz@CFL I suspect there will be new pricing options for the CFL (although presumably the reason DAZN is paying so much is to try to hook new viewers for multiple offerings)
@LilStampy4 Every major league has streaming-only games for a fee. Some fans (who also pay for a cable subscription to get TSN, btw) will pay for DAZN, and others will remain in the 20th century. And it's pretty easy to tell which is which.
@CFL_News@TSNDaveNaylor@CFL@GreenZoneSK@jamienye@LochlinCross Well, Halifax has had more than enough opportunities, but appears not to have the vision or drive to host a big-league team. I was always skeptical of QC, but with Peladeau in Montreal, the atmosphere seems to have changed - a big positive from stronger ownership.
@CoryBMorgan Rather rich from a Premier who entered a back-room deal to run a sham referendum on an issue she never campaigned on. At least the PM has the guts to be truthful and direct.
@TSNDaveNaylor@Ticats@argos@CFL Revenue, revenue, revenue. It makes the higher salary cap and contracts possible, and gives the league much-needed credibility and separation from the UFL. It is obviously driving the US-friendly future schedule and field sizes. Keep it up!
That 35% is higher than in previous polling. By making the referendum question non-binding, Smith has given license to soft(er) separatists to support leaving, since it's "safe" to do so in this first round.
Which makes the issue endure indefinitely. Great for investment!!
When Trump started with the 51st state BS, Danielle Smith went to Maro lago to celebrate.
When all the Premiers decided to take American liquor off the shelves, Smith refused.
Danielle Smith is a Traitor and a Separatist.
Team Maga. Never Team Canada.
