🚨🚔 Wanted Person Arrested 🚔🚨

VPD officers recently responded to a protection order violation in progress call after a suspect was reported to be at the protected party’s apartment.

Officers began searching the area for the suspect, who had left before they arrived on scene. A short time later, officers received another report that the suspect had returned.

Officers located the suspect and took him into custody. During the arrest, officers found methamphetamine and a scale in his belongings.

The suspect, Jason Gilchrist, was booked into the Clark County Jail on several counts of Protection Order Violation, Stalking and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.

Compassion is a virtue. Weaponized compassion is not. There is wisdom in avoiding unnecessary conflict, but there is also a point where refusing to defend the innocent doesn't prevent violence... it simply leaves evil unopposed. If someone is determined to destroy you, saying "don't resist because it will escalate" ignores the fact that if you're destroyed, there is nothing left to escalate. Scripture presents both mercy and discernment. There is "a time for peace and a time for war." Jesus taught us to love our enemies, yet He also made a whip of cords and drove the money changers from the Temple. He told His disciples, "let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one." Those passages don't celebrate violence; they recognize that there are times when protection, justice, and decisive action are necessary.

Following Christ is not passive surrender to evil. It is knowing the difference between vengeance and righteous defense. There is a time to turn the other cheek, and there is a time to stand, protect your family, defend your nation, and preserve what has been entrusted to your care. Wisdom is knowing which time you're in.
