It needs to be said…
This is not just a sickness of the mind.
It is also a sickness of the Spirit.
Donald Trump needs Jesus.
And we need every person who loves Jesus to stop acting like this is okay.
It’s not okay. It is sinful, deranged, and very unChristlike.
Follow Christ. Not Trump.
Believing that eternal conscious torment is the ultimate fate of the “lost” allows people to justify all manner of spiritual abuse and emotional manipulation as a means of rescuing folks from that supposed fate.
Recently read W. Jennings’s commentary on Acts. Reminded this is an account of a flaming Holy Spirit empowering people to live a new life of radical community and opposition to worldly powers. My faith tradition saw it mostly as a rule book for church rituals.
There are all kinds of emotional reactions you can see and even reasonably imagine Jesus having. Being upset or outraged that someone else got a break that he didn’t isn’t one of them.
@mjohnharrison Loved it. It is creepy and scary, but so evocative. Some passages I just went back and reread because they were so elegant and beautiful. Have recommended it to friends whom I know have a certain sensibility. They loved it, too.
Different kinds of liars. Skilled liars hard to catch at it. Unskilled liars obvious to anyone. But, the special case is Promiscuous liars. Lie unceasingly. Rapid fire. When a lie is revealed, they quickly tell another. They’re exhausting. We’re watching one in the news daily.
