Microsoft has a patience problem.
Their quest for short term cash is doing immense long term damage to Surface, Windows, and Xbox, and more.

It's not just the lack of care for people. It's the short-term mindset that doesn't understand the value in investing in people and talent
Microsoft mismanages employees, screws them around, and when numbers drop as a result, it's the same people who suffer in return
I'm not on the game development side at Microsoft, but I've worked with lots of people at Xbox and we deal with pretty much the same issues
Microsoft has a fundamental inability to manage people and I don't see it changing anytime soon
Employees get constantly shuffled around, moved to external vendors, and given no real reason to care or stick around
The FTE headcount has to stay low at all costs. Even high level positions get moved to awful external vendor contracts that add friction to everything they do
@bagandcompany You're right that this isn't the place to air out the specifics. I just wish any one of these people had talked to me (especially made up rumors like the setups)
I'd go to them, but kinda hard to do that when I didn't even know about half the stuff you're saying
It's time to finally get some stuff off my chest: GA Melee and where been
The tldr is that although I was already stepping away from TOing, I never wanted to leave the scene completely - but the fallout from the events of 2020 burned me way too much
@bagandcompany Problem is I straight up don't know what's being accused with a lot of this. How we framed it sucked, but what businesses practices when we literally didn't take money for locals?
@bagandcompany My one idea for where the setups thing might be coming from: Sleepy had a bunch of CRTs including mine. After they were banned, idk what happened to them
For any setups I had though, I bought them all and still have them
@bagandcompany Meant to include:
I'm pretty sure the only local I ever got any pay from was the initial 4o4 tournaments. We set it all up and marketed it for them, had a share of the venue fee for the first few months, then after that told them to take the rest and invest into the shop instead
