Aurora over the Grand Canyon (Navajo Point). The substorm on May 11 was much less powerful than the previous night, but still a beautiful sight over the Canyon.
Moonrise over Cathedral Rock yesterday evening. Must have been in the right spot as my good friend and former NWS colleague David showed up just before showtime and we enjoyed catching up and shooting the moon together. Good times π· #azwx
Ikiru. Yojimbo. Rashomon. High and Low. Seven Samurai. And tonight, Chris and I were immersed in Ran. I'm sorry I waited so long to appreciate such magnificent cinema! If you haven't yet had the chance to watch any of Kurosawa's work, it's time. And time well spent.
#Kurosawa
I am deeply honored and appreciative, receiving the Coconino County Medal of Merit from the Board of Supervisors yesterday. It has been an honor serving the community and our partners in my role with the outstanding NWS team here in Flagstaff.
18 yrs ago (June 23, 2008) on Hunts Mesa with photographer Derek Von Briesen. Early monsoon conditions were awesome. No lightning trigger but managed a couple of bolts with the 'stop down and rapid fire' technique! An evening I'll never forget. #azwx
@EverythingWX Hereβs one where I would say no. Itβs a slippery slope - yours is an app which reflects NWS data and products so well, focus on what works. Also, AFDβs are a great place to hear the voice, urgency, confidence, and personality of the Mets - would hate to diminish that.
The substorm around 9:45pm MST was particularly active (but short!), and brought beautiful dancing white pillars across the northern sky here in Flagstaff, AZ. #aurora
From the camera this time - high clouds added some red glow from the Flagstaff city lights, but aurora visible to the north with the naked eye. This photo @ 7:36pm MST.
